Hard to believe it was that long ago. So much had happened since then. Itβs one of two MCU movies I saw more than once in the theater. Both this and Thor:Ragnarok.

Remember the day well, I had been out of work for about six months due to corporate downsizing. Seeing a matinee of this on opening day was a bright spot in my life at that point.

Unfortunately, I didn't see it in theaters, but I remember the hype and anticipation. I thought it was unbelievable it generated over $200 million in its first weekend.

Saw it in packed theatre, downtown Toronto Scotiabank Theatre - my first & only visit to that one.
Superb trailers for Prometheus & The Dark Knight Rises, the latter which shut & sat everyone up straight.
Hulk's smashing Thor & Loki were massive laughs.
Thanos' reveal at mid-credits was a huge whoa/cheer/applause moment, not only paving the way for MCU to come for years, yet it also chose a path where those of us who knew him, knew, & casual viewers were left bewildered at why we were all bossing out.

Oddly enough, I don't recall its release at all. I wasn't really into the MCU back in 2012 and I was pretty busy finishing college/socializing at the time, so I guess that's not all that surprising. Still, I'm normally at least somewhat cognizant of the current big releases.
Either way, it's Joss Whedon's only good film. His greatest work is to be found on the small screen.
