Just sayin' roxy music has one of the most memorable opening tracks on their first album. In my opinion. Agree, a solid choice I don't recall the name of the song, but i guess i'll find out next time i put on that cd.

I don't understand the question. What is the first song on the first album released by your favorite singer? If you have more than one favorite singer, what song would be your most favorite from the list that you would make of the first song on their first albums? The song that I shared in my previous message is the first song from the first album of one of my favorite singers.
God bless you and him and my other favorites and your favorites always!!!

But every artist or band has only one debut album and only one opening track on it. It's like asking for your favorite left thumb.

^^^ Not if you have more than one favorite singer. I have several favorite singers and so I picked my most favorite first song on the first album.
God bless you and my favorite singers always!!!

^^^ I went with the first song from the first album from a singer/songwriter named Shane Minor. I picked his first out of the first song on the first albums from my other favorite singers since they too have a first song on their first albums. The following are the first songs from the first albums from three more of my favorite singers. I picked the first song from Shane's first album out of these three guys as well as my other favorite singers.
James Otto-"Long Way Down" Brad Paisley-Long Sermon" Darryl Worley-"A Good Day To Run"
God bless you and him and my other favorite singers always!!!
Holly
P.S. I picked Shane because sadly his first album was his only album.

Well, I'm screwed then because I can't think of an opening track on any of my favorite artists' debut albums that I would call my favorite. Let's say I were to pick "Why," the opening track of Annie Lennox's debut album, Diva. Would that mean it's my favorite Annie Lennox song, or my favorite opening track of all of my favorite artists' debut albums?

Holly Your most favorite first song on the first album? You're comparing across artists, not within an artist. A lot of times a great artist's debut's opening track is not as good as other artists' openers. I love All Things Must Pass (if we consider it George's debut), but "I'll Have You Any Time" ain't making my list.

But every artist or band has only one debut album and only one opening track on it. It's like asking for your favorite left thumb. I basically used Holly's definition/approach when compiling my list from earlier in this thread. However, I didn't just list opening tracks from the debut albums of bands I like. I limited myself to albums I own, and that eliminated a number of my favorite bands. It seems that some bands needed time to develop their signature sound, assemble their classic line-up, or achieve a consistently high level of songwriting. So the songs I did include were either my favorite song from that debut album, or a close second.

HUSH from Shades of Deep Purple, when they were psychedelic rock prior to being heavy metal.
