Alphabetically? Genre? No order at all?
I usually just organize by studio, i.e. all Universal titles grouped together.

Most are purely alphabetical, but I have some further broken down by label such as Criterion, Twilight Time, Kino, that are themselves done alphabetically.

I usually just organize by studio, i.e. all Universal titles grouped together. Used to go by directors/actors or studios, sometimes also through certain large movie franchises or different countries. But as my movie collection grew larger and larger, I decided that it did never look "right", and I started dividing the films into genres, like with my horror films: Old black and white, classic horror films (starting with Nosferatu (the original) and then onwards with the Universal Classic Monster/horror films of the 30s, 40s and 50s, then move onto with the Hammer Studio golden era of the 50s and 60s, into more of the classic releases of the 60s, 70s 80s and 90s, with a few, here and there from the 00s. After those, I include most of my italian/european giallo releases, mostly stuff from the 70s and 80s, then heading into american pre-slasher titles of the mid 70s, into the classic slasher era of the late 70s/early 80s, then following up with supernatural slashers. Then comes sci-fi/creature feature/monster horror films, usually from the late 70s into the 80s and a few from the 90s and 00s. Finally, I end up with the more light hearted and fun ones, through horror comedies, splatter films and certain body-horror titles.

I organize them according to the astrological sign of the film's leading lady. All very scientific.

First by country or region
Then by era or genre if applicable
Then director (similar directors together, eg. French New Wave, Neo Realist)
Then films chronologically within each director

Used to be by genre then alphabet, but with the amount of movies I have outweighing the storage I have to display them, it's pretty clustered and random.

Mine is a little odd. I have one part with movies based on books, one part based on comics, one part based on video games and one for originals and remakes.
I know itβs odd, but it helps me lol.

A mix between genre and no order at all. I also have a separate shelf for my favorite movies.

Most are by genre in release year order, unless I have several titles with the same director or actor, I group those together regardless of genre. (An exception is Burton's Batman movies, which are grouped along with the Schumacher and Nolan titles). My 007 and MCU collections each have their own sections.

When I only had DVDs, they were alphabetical. Between Blurays, Criterion Collection movies, Steelbooks, and TV series, its a little more complicated.

With my hands. Sometimes I think about doing it with my feet for an extra challenge, but I never go through with it.
