Not sure if this story is accurate but the young George Lucas derided the use of sound in space movies and decided that all his space battles in the first Star Wars would be correctly silent. The scenes were deadly dull, forcing Lucas to capitulate and add the necessary noise.
Does anyone know if this is true?

There is nothing we know of that is more vast than the Universe. It's so big we cannot see where it starts or ends. I think that qualifies as vast. I would just say, that if something is infinite...does that really mean that it's that big? That's my only point , see.
I would say yes. But we don't know that the Universe is infinite. Just because we cannot see the ends, doesn't mean they don't exist.

I never believed that ships such as X-Wings and TIE Fighters and Colonial Vipers could fly in space like fighter jets in Top Gun.

Using unenecessary CGI. Alien Convenant would have looked way better with practical effects. There was no reason for a CGI xenomorph, the original was just some guy in a costume and it looked way better.

It is a preferred technique and rather deliberate. Also Covenant while utter garbage did have mostly practical aliens with a negligible amount of enhanced effects.
