On the vhs of the movie--you could se a shadow go by the JC Penny sign when Doc Brown is about to be shot--and for years--until DVD, people thought someone walked by that sign.
There was a guy who wrote an article on Back to the Future-and he theorized that figure was the Marty from the altered 1985 reality. Doc Brown would have made sure that there was extra plutonium in the car--thus when Marty went back to 1955 he would return right away-so that meant he would do none of the things that the original Marty did-(like being a good skateboarder since he drove a car) so he would end up with the loser family.
He wrote another article after BTTF 2 suggesting the Marty of 2015 was that second Marty from the altered 1985--I think he theorized 2015 Biff was also the Biff from the original timeline.
Forgot how he worked it out-but he gave up when BTTF 3 came out.
He couldnt keep his theory going with that one.
