I would. Back about a month ago, when I was on holidays, it was announced that those 45+ can sign up for a vaccine. I then thought....Oh, that's me!
Got into a good discussion with my father about it. He asked if I was going to get vaccinated. My response was, "Oh yeah".
The day of my 46th birthday, I signed up to be on the waiting list for one of the pharmacies for when they get the vaccine, which was AstraZeneca.
Then, I kept seeing and hearing most of my friends getting their first dose - and they're younger than I am. I was beginning to think I was forgotten about!
I called the pharmacy - just to make sure I was on the waiting list. And, I was.
A couple of weeks ago, the family doctor's office called - saying the hospital was doing a clinic next Thursday. Of course, I signed right up. They were offering the AZ vaccine.
There were stories of those receiving the AZ vaccine that got blood clots afterwards. This was VERY rare, though. At the time, it was about 1 in 250000. Still made me say....I'll take that chance.
On the Tuesday before the clinic, it was announced that Ontario was putting the pause on all AZ vaccines. I thought....great - one step forward, and two steps back. That is - get so close to the vaccine, but now so far away.
The office said they were going to call a day before - just as a reminder. I figured they would still call - just to let me know the clinic is cancelled. They did call - solely to say the clinic was still one - they were able to secure the Moderna vaccine.
Had my first dose this past Thursday. Arm was sore for a couple of days after. I was a little bit achy and tired, but not any more than usual. I figured it was because I'm unwinding for the week as it was a Friday.
Second dose set up for the beginning of September. Here's hoping the world will see some normalcy by then.

Honestly, that was one of my concerns, too. However, it was explained to me that further research has shown that the doses are effective up to 16 weeks apart.
Meh - they know what they're doing - I hope.
As well, to put it into perspective, my father got his shot at about this time last month. He got the Pfizer shot. His second shot is set up for mid-July. So, that would be about 12 weeks.
