Yep. He's the stranger in Mayberry who's accused of theft. Aunt Bea is a juror who's sure he's a nice lad and didn't do it.

I love the show. Part of the fun in old shows is spotting people who went on to bigger things. In addition to Nicholson I've seen Barbara Eden, Michael J Pollard, Jamie Farr, Arte Johnson....

Nice......but it's VERY weird seeing any pictures/film clips of The Andy Griffith Show in COLOR......for whatever reason, this show will ALWAYS be a Black & White show for me...... SAVE FERRIS

True, yesterday I watched an Untouchables episode with William Bendix, Alan Hale Jr, Gavin MacLeod, and Stanley Adams(Star Trek's Tribble salesman) all as criminals.

Yes, even Nicholson couldn’t save a “colored” TAGS from being lackluster.

Barbara Eden as the manicurist in Mayberry Stunning. Amazingly sexy stuff for a 1960's television show. As far as Jack goes, it's too bad he didn't do a black and white episode. We never got to see Jack and Don Knotts together.

I'm pretty sure one of those ladies was the mother of porn star Jenna Jameson. The "fun girls" were in two episodes, both classics. Andy even gets beat up in one of them.

Not shocking back then, but it's surprising to see Andy light up. Well, it was set in North Carolina.

Cool guys smoked on TV until they took cigarette ads off...then the bad guys had the smokes going.

Not shocking back then, but it's surprising to see Andy light up. Well, it was set in North Carolina. One that was pretty shocking was when Andy and Barney were staking out a farmer who was working his field at night, and Barney asked Andy if he thought the guy was growing marijuana. You NEVER see that exchange when the episode is shown on TVLand, but it really did take place. I would think that's the first time that marijuana was even mentioned on a network show.

There's an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show where Mary Tyler Moore takes a neighbor's happy pill, then has a drink or two and gets loopy.

Another Andy Griffith oddity: In a few episodes Sheriff Taylor heads out to an illegal still and gets shot at. Andy takes it in stride and talks to the moonshiners. No charges brought.
