I was always a big fan of his songs and villainous turn in Phantom of the Paradise.

Thanks for the recommendation. I always found to be Paul Williams an underrated singer/songwriter as I enjoyed quite a few of his songs.

An extremely talented songwriter with some classics under his belt. But - and apologies to his fans - I cannot stand the guy's voice when he performs them himself. Bugsy Malone is a likeable film but having most (all?) the boys' songs performed by Williams comes close to killing it for me.
