probably one of the most boring movies ever made. Even Tom Hanks looks bored. Some nice supporting performances from Ian McKellen, Jean Reno, Alfred Molina and Paul Bettany though. Especially McKellen who brings some energy to the proceedings. Also, notice how The Da Vinci Code was everywhere back in the day now no one talks about it? Prime example of a fad.
amazing score by Hans Zimmer though. Should have been nominated and probably should have won the Best Original Score Oscar that year.

People made a lot of fuss about Hanks' hair.

Between this and Bonfire of the Vanities, Tom Hanks should be more discriminating when it comes to adaptations of popular books.

Yeah, it's a snoozefest. At least the sequels kind of improved. I did genuinely like Inferno.

Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review:
The Da Vinci Code (2006) - 2 out of 4 stars
"While lecturing in Paris, Harvard symbologist Hanks is pulled into a murder case that has deep, dark implications involving a religious sect and links to the paintings of Leonardo da Vinci. Eagerly anticipated adaptation of Dan Brown's best-seller (which became a cultural phenomenon) is a letdown in every respect. Workmanlike at best, not especially well staged or shot, it lacks the electricity--and star chemistry--a thriller of this magnitude ought to have. Material still has pull, but Akiva Goldman's script makes changes that aren't always an improvement on the book...and the movie plods along as it heads down the stretch. Alternate version runs 28m. longer. Followed by ANGELS & DEMONS. Super 35."

Apparently the movie has an extended cut. Any of you have seen it?

Not Hanks’ best but it was pretty entertaining when I saw it back in the day. I do remember the Smart car and thinking how silly they looked and then lo and behold they started showing up on American roads which was even more ridiculous.
