Remember when Mel Gibson was a box office draw? Yeah, good times. The war cliches and body count are both too high to count. After awhile, the endless shooting becomes just numb. Still can't forget the sight of a soldier having the skin peel off their legs like rotisserie chicken.

It’s never been great, to me. But it’s enjoyable on occasion. It does feel rather generic in most aspects. The only thing I truly remember is that Mels character was the first one on the ground and the last one off it. They made a big deal about it.

I like the movie quite a bit, cliches and all. The one aspect of the movie that doesn't work is Chris Klein's acting. I think the movie is very effective in telling this specific battle of the Vietnam war and I can't think of another war movie that puts as much focus on the wives of the soldiers. I might just not have seen those movies. I think it is a very well made war movie that is emotional and intense. I saw it at the cinema back in 2002 and have seen it a couple times since.

Not anything great nor stands out from other movies of its kind or time period, but it's entertaining enough.

A movie you have to be patient with, as the first act is dull and somewhat sappy. Once they get to Vietnam, the movie becomes worth watching

It’s kind of meh to me. Gibson’s fine and Sam Elliott did make me laugh a few times.
