Saw a lot of movies that summer, especially at the dollar theater.
Some others:
Doc Hollywood - fun little Michael J. Fox romantic comedy VI Warshawski - don't remember much about this one except my brother and I always had a hard time pronouncing the name Mobsters - one of the more unbelievable gangster films. Patrick Dempsey as a hardcore goodfella? Mannequin Two - horrible unnecessary sequel to a mediocre first film Naked Gun 2 1/2 - pretty funny but not quite as good as the original Harley Davidson and Marlboro Man - Don Johnson was pretty good, my memory isn't too good, I might not have seen this until it came out on VHS
Stand outs for me though were
Rocketeer - I agree that a sequel should have been made. This was a great film, Dalton was amazing as an Errol Flynn type. Jennifer Connelly was gorgeous. I like the use of the GeeBees. Terminator 2 - Probably a better film than the original, this movie was a sensation when it came out. I was addicted to the arcade game. Robin Hood - Not the best Robin Hood film, but it was still a lot of fun. The Sean Connery cameo was a big surprise at the end of the film. The big highlight of course, was Alan Rickman as the Sheriff.

A few enjoyable titles among the ones mentioned but basically that summer was a drought.

I felt this was the year where the steam was running out of Hollywood. The star-focused movie was beginning to disappear.
CGI was now getting attention thanks to Terminator 2 (though the water creature in the Abyss was incredible--that was amazing how it could imitate faces).
T 2 was the first disappointing blockbuster movie experience--where I was disappointed in the story resolution and some of the choices made.
In the 90s you could detect that original story genre movies were disappearing. It was many more sequels and brand name blockbusters. And far less on the low budget side was getting on the radar. Sundance-type movies were more prominent. Action and horror were buried in the home video market.
I wonder how international film was doing-like Italy--it looks like a lot less output compared to the 80s.

Harley Davidson and Marlboro Man - Don Johnson was pretty good, my memory isn't too good, I might not have seen this until it came out on VHS I think I was still going through a Mickey Rourke phase, during which I caught in theaters both Desperate Hours the previous year and White Sands the following year. I don't recall much about HD&MM aside from the stiffly moving in unison, Daniel Baldwin-led group of automatic weapons-toting, matching slick black outfits-wearing henchmen whom I thought were robots.

Any summer without a F&F movie is automatically better.

VI Warshawski - don't remember much about this one except my brother and I always had a hard time pronouncing the name I think I was taken in by this film as it was supposed to have a good pedigree, being an adaptation of a private eye mystery novel series popular at the time. I went in expecting something along the lines of Spenser: For Hire for the big screen, sleuthing with a good feel for local color and some wittiness thrown in. It really wasn't.
