Yes, for every computer-animated movie, there should be one hand-drawn one. Not sure if it'll be possible though. It's pretty much a fact that computer-animated makes more at the box-office. It is a false choice in a way. There's also the possiblity of 3D virtual drawn animation. If 2D doesn't catch on, they can always try that.

People still watch classic Disney so I dont think 2d animation is out of favor - some things don't work well in cgi--I dont think some cartoon humor works in cgi. It's not staccato enough.
They can do a lot with backgrounds to be more elaborate. They just cant let costs go crazy.
CGI is just easier from management perspective--there's less artist control--less style decisions.

I liked the idea they initially took in the 2010s, going back and forth between 2D and CG. Unfortunately, they didn't feel Princess and the Frog lived up to expectations, Winnie the Pooh outright bombed, and Frozen was changed to a CG film despite originally being conceptualized as a 2D film. At this point though, Disney has lost most of it's animation respect that I just don't care much what they do anymore.
