It comes from a single line from an article in the Hollywood Reporter. “..In the section dedicated to lawyer Warren Dern, we can read that his client "Todd Phillips struck a deal to co-write the next Joker installment." collider.com/joker-2-writer-todd-phillips/

Interesting. Part of me wants this and part of me doesn't. Sequels are hard. I don't know how I feel.

I can’t help but feel like they’re making a mistake with this.

I can’t help but feel like they’re making a mistake with this. If they're keeping up with the Scorsese influence, I'd love a Goodfellas styled movie where he teams up with Two-Face; Scarecrow; and Riddler.

The fact that THR seems to be the source of all these sequel talks makes me hope that they’re wrong, but the fact that there hasn’t been any statement from Todd Phillips or WB debunking this doesn’t make me optimistic. A sequel would be a stupid idea. Where could they possibly go?

If they're keeping up with the Scorsese influence, I'd love a Goodfellas styled movie where he teams up with Two-Face; Scarecrow; and Riddler. I feel like fans have been quietly suggesting a Gotham mafia movie for a few years now. I think it’s a good idea, and it could be rather cheap to make. I know a lot of people criticize Joker for leaning too far into Taxi Driver/King of Comedy, but I don’t have a problem with the Elsewoods films really leaning into homages.
