Preposterous premise and plot points. In one scene, a man cuts off another man's thumb in order to be able to close a hatch, saving scores of lives. He manages to do this in like 2 seconds with, basically, a pocket-knife. Richard Widmark was a fine actor in some later performances, but he was terrible in this one. It seemed like he didn't want to be involved with the project. 5/10
