Before the pandemic, I would take the subway into the city once or twice a week. The plethora of JW's annoyed me as well as amused me. They amuse me because they manipulate with great perseverance and usually with considerable effort toward converting the weak-minded to follow them into eternity. I chuckle at the fact that history shows it takes over 6000 man-hours for every conversion. (A husband-wife team spending seventy hours a month witnessing would be lucky to persuade one convert every three year). But I digress .....
Back in late March of this year, I again started to utilize the subway, yet I've yet to see a member of the JW cult in their normal loitering, malingering place pushing their pablum of B.S. What have they been doing? Are their numbers declining because of the lack of witnessing?
A Lloyd Evens YouTube video says that the JWs are merging congregations and selling Kingdom Halls to raise money. A lot of JWs are now using ZOOM. Is this Armageddon for this cult? They outlasted the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918. Will they keep going?
Of course, my eternal question is always: If JW is the one, true, religion, why is it necessary for them to convert others. One would think that Muslims and Catholics would be beating a path to the Kingdom Halls and begging to join.

And I've never seen the logic behind your eternal question. Even "if JW is the one, true, religion", why should it follow that people of other religions will see the mistake they've made?

Nobody stands on the corner (or knocks on your door) trying to tell you how good sex, pizza, Disneyland, or smart phones are. Most already know this from word of mouth or personal experience.
If JW were the one true religion, then 90% of the world would already know it. Hindus and Scientologists wouldn't exist because they would already be JWs. There would be no need to proselytize to the other 10% because they must be mentally ill. The fact that most religions brainwash their flock that they are the one true religion is a good indicator that none of them are the one true religion.
Religion isn't about belief; it's about power and the need to control the thoughts of others.

All the JWs I’ve encountered have been polite and non-intrusive and that includes the ones who occasionally knock on my door. The believers that do annoy me tend to be the holy shouters and megaphone preachers who pollute public spaces with their self righteous noise.

So, in your view, if an idea is true it will be popular...because truth (like sex, pizza, Disneyland, and smart phones) is designed to provide pleasure and convenience.Well, at least now I see the "thought" (generous word choice) behind your eternal question. To put it gently, yours is a novel notion, to say the least.

That is something you can say about all religions and sects.

What they should have been doing for years, updating their recruitment methods so it's all online.
Those parasitic boneheads kept coming to my house, targeting my Mother in law because she was too nice to tell them to go away. She'd be hiding from them saying 'I'm a Christian' (She's ESL and they'd send ESL JW's to recruit her).
They kept coming even after I told them to stop. They'd wait a few weeks, then try to find her home alone.
I had to stare the fuckheads down finally and say directly 'Never come to my house again' and get them to verbally confirm that they heard me (one guy kept staring off into space).

I always tell them that I cannot speak to them as I am a witness for the prosecution.

Tell them you'd love to join them but you are an apostate and that you were disfellowshipped for masturbating while spying on Tony Morris's granddaughter taking a shower.
As Danny Devito said in Ruthless People, "That ought to do it."

I did invite a couple cute ones in to join me in a shower once. That kept them away for awhile. I felt insulted.

I've wondered about that as well. Why are they still wasting their time going door to door? All that time and energy would probably be more effective through social networking if their goal is recruitment numbers.

If religions were mobile os'es, Jehovah's Witnesses would be Windows Phone OS.
