Maybe some of you are on to it, but one hack I have for hunting images is to think of a particular Star Trek episode and Google that. Like Star Trek Charlie X. This eliminates a lot of junk images. That's a good tip. Google image search is great, but depending on how you use the search results, you can end up with a dead image link on this board. Other board users have experienced this first hand. As a general rule, the shorter and more direct an image link is, the more likely it is to work permanently. Using an image from "Charlie X" as example, in the Chrome browser, right-clicking and selecting "Copy Link Address" will give you this: www.google.com/url?q=https://www.tor.com/2015/04/21/star-trek-the-original-series-rewatch-qcharlie-xq/&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwiWvLvSsvbwAhXEaM0KHRacCbgQqoUBMAV6BAgSEAE&usg=AOvVaw0e-CUdXmvA4QGZffeBplQRAnd right-clicking and selecting "Copy Image Address" will give you this: encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHWHPsxmSo8SguKIvqEE2T8ICGUaKb98Cbfsfab3Koo0G_GgwzfzkEUO87Xw&sYou'll note that the two URLs above reference Google owned domains. It's best to click through to the web page source and then "Copy Image Address" i2.wp.com/www.tor.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/st-charliex20.jpg?resize=740%2C555&type=vertical&quality=100Or even better use the same URL above, but remove the parameters (the ? and everything after it) i2.wp.com/www.tor.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/st-charliex20.jpgThat last URL is pretty much guaranteed to work for a good long time. I did an image embedding test for the four URLs above. The first URL didn't show the picture, the second showed a thumbnail, and the last two displayed the image full size. My own recommendation is to search for, e.g., "Trekcore.com Charlie X" instead of "Star Trek Charlie X" as that site has a complete set of screencaps for every episode in the franchise, in both DVD and HD resolutions. And their images don't have any parameters to deal with.

I've my reproduced my own tips on finding images to use from the sticky thread. My preferred source of images for these threads is TrekCore.com, which bills itself as "The Web's largest and most frequently updated Star Trek multimedia resource." The site has a section (and subdomain) for each Star Trek TV series and the movies. The menu at the top and the subdomains employ abbreviations commonly used among Star Trek fans. If you're unfamiliar with these, here's breakdown, with links to each section/subdomain of the site. TOS = The Original Series (1966–1969) TAS = The Animated Series (1973-1975) TNG = The Next Generation (1987-1994) DS9 = Deep Space Nine (1993-1999) VOY = Voyager (1995–2001) ENT = Enterprise (2001–2005) MOVIES = All the Star Trek movies I've posted images from every single one of these sections in the past. Obviously, given the name "Movie Quote/ Star Trek: TOS threads", TOS images are preferred, but anything is fair game. Most of the time you'll be given a choice between Screencaps (DVD) and Screencaps (HD) or (BLU-RAY). Personally, I prefer to use the high definition images. Obviously it helps immensely if you know in advance the Star Trek episode or movie you're looking for. But even if you don't, adding "TrekCore.com" to a Google search can help you find high quality images to use.

Another tip: When you start a thread, identify the movie you are referencing. A link to a quote/script page is also a nice touch.

And please include the year along with the title. With Hollywood remaking everything in sight, it can be difficult to know what version is being quoted.

And for those who are not above using IMDb:
The recent changes have made snagging images from their servers tricky but not impossible. When you right click, you no longer have any option to copy the image location. There are, fortunately, still workarounds.
If you are using Firefox, use CTRL-I to open up the page information tabs, choose the Media tab, scroll down to the bottom, and there you'll see one or more jpg links. Click on those to make sure you have the one you want (the image will display at the bottom of the tab), highlight the URL above where you see the image, and copy.
Other browsers probably have similar workarounds, but Catman does not know the specifics.

But my personal favorite is SeaMonkey, which works exactly like Firefox when it comes to snagging images from the IMDb. Firefox/SeaMonkey are a lot easier than Chrome in this regard. The best way I've found to snag IMDb images in Chrome is to press Ctrl+U (View Source), then press Ctrl+F (Find) and type into the Find dialog box ".jpg". That's how I managed to snag this image of Elisabeth Sladen in Doctor Who: Genesis of the Daleks: Part Three (1975).

As we approach Movie Quote thread #600, it can be easy to forget if a thread exists for a particular title. That's why I created a quick method of looking them up. There is an alphabetical list of movie titles at the bottom of Page 2 in the sticky thread. The direct link is here. This list is formatted so that "A", "An", and "The" appear at the end of the title. For example, "Bronx Tale, A (1993)", "American in Paris, An (1951)" and "Andromeda Strain, The (1971)". The alphabetical list is not updated in real time, but I post an update after every ten five threads, which hopefully is often enough. EDIT 02/09/2022: Because the creation of new threads has slowed down, I posted an update today. Furthermore, I will now be posting an update after every five threads. The next update will be 570, then 575 etc. EDIT 04/06/2022: I have enhanced the alphabetical list of movie titles with the latest update. Previously, the alphabetical list was just text. But now the parsed movie titles include hyperlinks to the associated quote threads!

UPDATE 12/9/2022: There's now a big difference between Reply and Quick Reply on this site. If you want to do any special options, such as Insert Image (essential for quote threads), you need to click Reply.
UPDATE 12/10/2022: The situation I described above was temporary. Quick Reply functionality has now been restored!
