As far as modern Christian movies go, A WEEK AWAY is an anomaly. The characters don't talk about religion that often. The story plays out the same way it would if it took place in any other kind of camp. Because there's little to no preaching, viewers have the opportunity to know the characters' identities beyond just their beliefs. The new songs are decent yet unmemorable. As for the covers, Amy Grant's BABY BABY is the best one. None of them are bad, although Bailee Madison seems to struggle with the notes during Michael W. Smith's PLACE IN THIS WORLD. Also, Audio Adrenaline's BIG HOUSE is performed during a paintball scene and later during the end credits (indirectly serving as the movie's main theme), but the lyrics (which describe how Heaven must look like) don't connect with anything. Whether I was watching a musical number, an outdoor activity or the characters simply displaying their earnest personalities, the sense of contagious fun was always present. Unfortunately, without spoiling anything, every single conflict is resolved in the most rushed way possible. 6/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
