What premium channels (e.g. HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Showtime) do you get in addition to your regular channels? Do you also get any subscription services (e.g. Amazon, CBS All-Access, Hulu, Netflix)? If you can only afford 1 premium channel or 1 subscription service, which 1 would you choose?
The reason I'm asking is because a few idiots on another thread claim that Netflix is the future and that more people are switching from premium cable channels to Netflix (even though those idiots have no proof of that at all).
But I don't think Netflix isn't going to last. The problem with Netflix is that it's a paid subscription, on top of the basic cable that most people are already paying for and the premium channels that some people are already paying for. With basic cable and maybe 1 or 2 premium channels, that's already a pretty significant monthly TV bill so normal people aren't going to pay for an additional subscription service like Netflix. Only rich people (the 1% that's always talked about during election years) would be able to afford subscription services like Netflix in addition to the premium cable channels that they're already paying for. So most people don't subscribe to Netflix and won't subscribe to Netflix in the future either.
How many people are going to be able to afford all those subscription services in addition to their regular cable and premium cable channels? It's a lot like the WWE pay-pay-views. When WrestleMania first started, it was the only WWE pay-per-view event. So I didn't mind paying the $30 for that 1 pay-per-view event for the year. Then they added the Royal Rumble, Summer Slam, and Survivor Series so it was $120 for the year if you wanted to see all the pay-per-views.
Now they have a pay-per-view event every month. And the price went up. And now instead of buying each pay-per-view event separately, they introduced the WWE Network and make you subscribe to the WWE Network in order t see the pay-per-view events. So it's gotten much more expensive and not everyone can afford it. That's why these things aren't going to last.
Do you agree or disagree?

We don't have any real premium stuff as we just have the package that's one higher than the basic one on DirecTV basically. those PPV things i never bother with as they are very expensive for what you get as something would have to be pretty damn good to even consider it for me as it just seems like wasted money for the most part. If you want any shows on premium channels your best off 'downloading' them, if you catch the drift ; there is very few shows i bother with in general though and all of the shows i like to any higher degree i basically got on my computers hard drive in their entirety. but to be honest... i don't really watch much stuff on the regular TV with DirecTV (and the like) as it's mainly just sports and more of the reality TV show variations. when it comes to movies i basically always watch em from a proper (downloaded to hard drive) source. even the show Better Call Saul, which airs on AMC, while i have access to that channel on my DirecTV i always just download it online not long after it airs and watch it at my convenience and then eventually, once it's out on Bluray/DVD, i just 'get' a proper version of it for future re-watches. It's not surprising as the rising costs of cable/sat seem to be rising more often than they used to which is going to push people away from general basic cable and the like in general where as Netflix is dirt cheap in comparison. hell, i seen on the news the other day that some were was considering putting some sort of tax on Netflix because of all of the $$$ they were losing because people dropping DirecTV/Cable etc. Google 'netflix tax' as that will get the point across.

I cut the cord years ago. Cable companies were charging $140 for the cable tier that would include amc, fx, tnt, etc. I bought an antenna ($10), subscribed to TiVo ($7 a month, plus purchase of tuner with DVR functions). I already had amazon prime. Netflix is $9. I purchased outright seasons of TV shows that I enjoy for an average of $25 a season. Many series release the first episode of the season online for free. During GoT season, I subscribe to HBO now for $20 a month (40-60 per season). During March Madness Basketball, we get SlingTv for $20 a month ($40 per tournament season). It is way cheaper than the other way. Netflix is a solid source for my TV consumption and it will be around for a long time. If Internet companies put a tax on it or slow Netflix's stream, then that is a different story. There is also the "download" way to go as mslo79 has stated. That would save even more $. The cable companies are quickly losing subscribers while Netflix is gaining subscribers. Shows like Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, American Crime Story, The Americans, The White Queen, Mad Men, and the first seasons of Walking Dead, etc, I've only watched after the seasons dropped on Netflix. Others, like all the Marvel superhero stuff, Orange is the New Black, Santa Clarita Diet, House of Cards, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Black Mirror, is exclusive to Netflix. Martin Scorsese is making his next gangster film and will air exclusively on Netflix. It is titled The Irishman, with Robert Deniro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. They also produced Beast of No Nation with Eris Elba and I Don't Feel At Home in this World Anymore, which you should check out. My point being is that Netflix is more a service provider. Netflix is a broadbased Entertainment Company. They are a TV/Film Studio and a distributer. They make entertainment that would not otherwise be made on any other network or given a chance in the theaters. They are another avenue for smaller to medium films to be made that would otherwise be turned down by the more tradition Studios (WB, Disney, Paramount). Netflix helped create the "Golden Age of TV." Netflix has put the pressure on other cable channels to create quality programming, and not s**t shows like the reality BS or boring procedurals with 40 episode seasons. Netflix is not going anywhere unless they are squeezed out by Cable Internet companies or the like.

I feel as though they're all premium with what we're charged . "Reports" say many are cutting the cord-because of the cost & terrible service. I have a brother who only does Hulu & Netflix. He doesn't pay nearly as much as we do for regular cable. It was TWC that of course went to Spectrum. We have the 2nd tier that includes BBC, Sundance, etc. As soon as Orphan Black airs it's last season, we're cutting the cord....back to basic. Spectrum got rid of a lot of the channels we were watching, so it definitely doesn't pay. However, Amazon & Netflix both have series we would love to watch. It does really come down to what one likes to watch if it is worth it-to go premium or Netflix, etc.

I would choose HBO ( for the quality )I think most people would choose Netflix ( for the quantity )The reason I'm asking is because a few idiots on another thread claim that Netflix is the future and that more people are switching from premium cable channels to NetflixThis is actually TRUE:
