Japan did a few movies where they stuck in a token white guy.
One of the craziest is The Golden Bat--the grandfather character is a white man.
There are so many token black characters-you could never create a list of them. That's why they get killed off so often because they were inserted for propaganda reasons.
Ernie Hudson in Leviathan--he's killed off only for some stupid message that the black guy is there to help the whites.

That must be a pretty recent trend, because in the seventies the black guy would be the only one to survive besides the lead character. He was immortal. If that changed during modern times, it must have been a bit of an effort from writers and directors to be more unpredictable.

There was one 1940s movie with Lloyd Nolan I think--he is in danger and a black janitor throws himself at the killer and gets shot-and he survives until he kills the attacker. But that was a minor character who doesnt appear much in the movie. That's the "Magic Negro" trope Spike Lee talks about.
Then in the 60s--a movie like DARK OF THE SUN--Jim Brown saves Rod Taylor from being killed by African fighters but then Brown gets killed (by the German mercenary).
OJ Simpson didnt get killed in the Towering Inferno
but Yaphet Kotto gets killed in ALIEN.
He is the last male though considering Ian Holm is a robot.
I don't think the claim that the black character is always dying, is correct--Morgan Freeman wasn't killed in Robin Hood. Lando Calrissian.
Joe Morton in Terminator 2 is a ridiculous example though of self-sacrifice. He just decides to blow up the lab -- not thinking of his family?
There is an attitude in Hollywood that a black character is no good if he isn't helping whites.
Jackson in Die Hard 3--he doesnt want anything to do with whites--but by the end, he likes Bruce Willis.
On the other hand, John Amos in Die Hard 2 also really likes Bruce Willis. But he's an anti-communist military high achiever so he's bad.
Rocky 4--Apollo Creed is like the John Amos character--he's patriotic high achiever. That is why he gets so mad about the Russians showing off.

I'm assuming that one black Ghostbuster would count.
How bout Lando Calrissian?
SNL had a token black for decades. Garrett Morris was the first, Eddie Murphy was the best, Chris Rock was the angriest, and Kenan Thompson lasted the longest.

As for Deon Richmond what made him a token to you? I didn't say whatever film, I said Black Panther. Richmond had like 6 lines, half of them about being black, and he got added to the poster. Cynical "urban marketing".

I think I needed to be extremely precise with you he wasn't a token in Black Panther. His role was as a consulate figure, study politics then you'll know what I'm talking about.

The politics is they were shy about making a movie with an all black cast (save Andy Serkis' villain) so they threw an inoffensive white guy in there to make people more comfortable.
