Two recent highly acclaimed Korean films touching on the class divide, though tackling the theme quite differently. Which do you personally prefer.? Both are excellent, very well made films on all levels. Personally I prefer the slightly subtler, more mysterious BurningBurning - 9/10 Parasite - 8/10

Slight edge to Parasite, but they are two of the best films of the last few years. 8/10 and 8/10, at least.

While I disliked both, I would prefer Burning, because it's more mysterious and open for interpretation.

At first I thought you were mentioning the '80s slasher film the Burning vs. Parasite which would be a pretty interesting contest...

Burning is certainly subtler, to the point I barely noticed the theme. It also went on for a long time and ended just as it was getting interesting. A+ performance from Yeun, though.
Parasite is my favorite movie of the last 10 years, so that. Tbe allegory might be a touch obvious, but still clever and it bounces around emotions from hilarious to unsettling to tragic in a way few films I've seen have.

I have no problem with obvious if done as creatively as Parasite. The performances, atmosphere and set-design alone are enough reason to watch the movie. The Parasite house is one of my favorite movie houses.

It's very cleverly done and one of the few films of recent memory where a twist really has come out of nowhere, I just personally prefer the mood of Burning. That house is stunning.
