Men in Black International, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Punisher War Zone on their resume. I’m sure it’s going to be great. Seriously, how do people like this get work? Also before you say “they wrote Iron Man” that final movie was basically thanks to Favreau and the cast. The script wasn’t even finished when they started shooting en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Marcum_and_Matt_Holloway

Punisher: War Zone kicks serious ass. Punch-your-whole-fist-through-your-face kind of ass. Though I ought to credit Lexi Alexander for most of that.

Transformers: The Last Knight - most entertaining Transformers film (not saying much....and not including Bumblebee) Punisher War Zone - best Punisher film Men in Black International - best MIB sequel
There are plenty of cases where someone has written something impressive compared to their early work. Look at Chenobyl TV series - written by the guy that gave us Scary Movie 3 & 4 and The Hangover Part II & III.
Anyway, if there is anything you should learn from computer game adaptations...have low expectations.

Screenwriting has never been about quality. A producer would look at a writer's resume and if they have already sold several scripts which went into production and became more or less succesful mainstream movies that would be a huge plus for the writer. Because it would prove that his material is commercial. Producers will also assume, that if A-listers signed up for these projects, they must have liked the scripts, so there is a good chance this writer could attract more major talent in the future.
Whereas a better writer who hasn't sold anything yet or whose projects ended up in development hell because they would be too risky for mainstream audiences or too expensive would have a major disadvantage.

No one is a better Punisher than Thomas Jane and the Last Knight was dreadful the first film where I wanted to kill Anthony Hopkins.

Nah Jane was the third best....though the top 3 are close and Lundgren 4th by a large margin Let me rephrase it....Transformers: The Last Knight was less shit than the other shit Transformers films

Yeah, surely a huge step up, from the Thomas Jane movie, and I was very impressed at how fun and explosive that one turned out to be. Had few expectations, when I picked it up as a DTV release, back in 2009, but along with the late Dolph 80s film, surely the two most enjoyable ones.

And the Transformers Last Knight was garbage I'll give you the posh robot butler as a standout but the rest was garbage. The worst Transformers movie.

Just another assembly line major studio product which happens to have a $100 million budget, but this time, it's a first shot at a new franchise. Fun fact: the script for I Know What You Did Last Summer, written before Scream, was rushed into production after Scream's success.

The 80s movie did not excite me much, though I concede that one aspect of it has a a lot of potential to be realized in a movie: the prospect of pitting the mafia against the yakuza.
The 2004 movie was again, so-so and forgettable. The problem here was that it felt like an ordinary revenge flick, not a Punisher movie.
With such underwhelming precedents, I did not mind how badly War Zone ripped off Batman as well as The Dark Knight, as long as it kept me entertained. My only complaint is that it gets to the "let's band together and kill The Punisher" storyline rather late, the whole war zone scenario.

It's a video game based movie, did anyone seriously think it was gonna be good to begin with? These types of movies are almost always done by gun for hire types that know nothing about the source material, these typically aren't "passion projects" done by fans of the video game. Hopefully the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie will break this trend (I think the director is an actual fan of the game).

A good video game movie can be made, but the people involved just don’t care to. I certainly don’t think anyone involved with Uncharted has any intentions of making this good except Holland cause he even said he had fun working on this and is a fan of the games. I’d wish if he were a true fan he would have let Wahlberg play Nathan.

Screenwriting has never been about quality. That sound you hear is Richard Matheson rolling around 6 feet under.
Leigh Brackett is doing the same.

Are you suggesting a video game adaptation might not be good?

In the movie and TV business delivering a script that gets produced isn't always based on quality it's also about the amount of time delivered and how easier they can make the material filmable.
