My pick - Savages (2012) Roger Ebert was a big fan of Savages - www.rogerebert.com/reviews/savages-2012His most recent movie to get a fresh rating on RT - In a Valley of Violence (2016). Also starring in the acclaimed TV series "American Crime Story" the same year. His last movie that has a 7.0 or higher on IMDB - A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004) His last movie to be praised by both the public and critics - The Thin Red Line (1998)

Basic was probably the last of his films I didn't hate.

The Taking of Pelham 123 remake he did with Denzel Washington isn’t bad. But as far as really good work, I’d go back to Primary Colors which was in 1998. I did like The General’s Daughter (1999).
