It might have been rejected because the plot sounded ridiculous. But if you are trying to sell an idea and the main focus is just on diversity instead of an entertaining and great idea for a story then that might be a problem too.

What would the sequel be about? A tornado with a personal vendetta against Helen Hunt? The original was about Helen Hunt with a personal vendetta against tornados, so who knows. All we know is it would have contained non-white people, and for imdb2, that's the only thing worth knowing. I always got the vibe that Hunt thought she was above Twister, so this is surprising. But regardless of who got cast, it wouldn't be the same without Bill and Dusty. |

I am in fact bothered by the reason the story is mentioned and I am also bothered by the fact that it was posted on IMDB 2 as if anyone should care. So yes, I care in some sense. Everything is about fucking race now and yes, that bothers me. A mixed race sequel to Twister would just be a sequel to Twister. There are only a couple reasons why Helen Hunt would even bring up it being a mixed race sequel and the main reason is likely because she thought it would have a better chance at getting made. That is the only reason the movie would be made at all. It bothers me that this "news" was even posted on IMDB 2 as there is only one reason it would be. It is bait-y BS. I would have said the same if it was just Helen Hunt wants Twister sequel and studio turned her down, it just wouldn't be bait in that case. Who cares. You might not care about the story, but you obviously care about what IMDB 2 thinks about the story. So don't act like you somehow avoided anything. The only reason I posted anything at all was because I thought it would be funny to have a gif of Nicholson from As Good As It Gets responding. Then you had to go and tempt me. Not your fault directly, but it happened. That is me being funny and acknowledging my own faults.

Nobody wants to see a Paxton-less Twister movie coming out 25 years after the first one with the major plot revolving around how brown the people are.

I think Chubby Checker should have had a cameo. I assumed he was dead (a lot of musicians from that era have kicked the bucket), but looks like he's still alive. He was actually really young when Twist was a hit (only 18).

I was thinking the sequel was to be made earlier and she just brought it up now. It should be a racist twister--it only targets black people communities--and she's like--wait a minute--I know tornados--this isn't natural. She discovers there's a man behind the curtain--a white real estate crazy guy who is destroying black neighborhoods to take the land--hey this is pretty good--the last section has a bunch of KKK people flying up in the tornado during a big fight scene finale.
