Meek's Cutoff - 7/10 RoboCop - 8/10 Celebrity - 7.5/10 3:10 to Yuma - 8/10 Rumble Fish - 7/10 Seinfeld: Season 4 - 10/10 First Time Viewings:Phffft (1954, Mark Robson) This one tells an amusing story and is well cast. Judy Holliday, Jack Lemmon, and Kim Novak all deliver good performances. 7/10 It Should Happen to You (1954, George Cukor) Released earlier in the year than Phffft this one also stars Judy Holliday and Jack Lemmon, with this being Lemmon's first film. It's pretty good. 7/10 Beauty and the Beast (1946, Jean Cocteau) This telling of the classic tale has nice black and white photography, good performances, and it does a pretty good job with the story. 7/10 The Jungle Book (1942, Zoltan Korda) It looks nice, but the characters and story didn't fully grab me. The animated one remains the only telling of this story I fully like. 6/10 The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021, Michael Chaves) Easily the weakest of the three. It has some good stuff, but the most interesting parts of the story aren't shown. 5.5/10 The Absent Minded Professor (1961, Robert Stevenson) I rewatched Flubber last week after not having seen it in a long time, so I decided to give the original movie a shot. It's still comedic, but less silly and more enjoyable overall. 7/10 Big Fish (2003, Tim Burton) Not sure why I took so long to get to this one, but I quite enjoyed it. It's a fun story full of colorful characters, played by a strong cast, and it's entertaining throughout. 7.5/10 Unfaithful (2002, Adrian Lyne) I was a bit worried about this one when the last act started, but it remained interesting and engaging for me. Diane Lane and Richard Gere both give strong performances. 7/10 Cyrus (2010, Mark Duplass & Jay Duplass) I quite liked this one. It wasn't what I expected, but I was glad of that. It's less over the top than I thought it would be and more subtle and emotional. Good work from John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill, and Marisa Tomei helps the proceedings. 7.5/10 Repeat Viewings:Knowing (2009, Alex Proyas) Hadn't seen this since the theater and my thoughts remain the same. Good premise, but the it fumbles a bit in the last act. 6.5/10 The Thing (1982, John Carpenter) A horror classic that's always a great watch. It's well cast, intense, has an atmospheric score, and incredible effects. 9/10 The Jungle Book (1967, Wolfgang Reitherman) One of my favorite Disney animated films. It has a couple great songs, nice hand drawn animation, awesome characters, and it's very entertaining. 8/10 TV Viewings:King of the Hill: Season 13 (2008-2010) 8/10 Movie Awards:BEST FILM: The Thing BEST ACTOR: Richard Gere (Unfaithful) BEST ACTRESS: Judy Holliday (Phffft) BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Albery Finney (Big Fish) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Marisa Tomei (Cyrus) BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Henri Alekan (Beauty and the Beast) BEST SCORE: Ennio Morricone (The Thing) BEST SCRIPT: Bill Lancaster & John W. Campbell Jr. (The Thing) BEST DIRECTOR: John Carpenter (The Thing) Big Fish (2003, Tim Burton) I used to like this better, but I found it has lot some of its charm over the years. 6.5/10 Knowing (2009, Alex Proyas) This is well-made and has some thrilling moments, but the last act was a bit of a let-down. 6/10 The Thing (1982, John Carpenter) Classic Carpenter. 8/10 The Jungle Book (1967, Wolfgang Reitherman) Haven't seen this since being a kid, but I used to enjoy it very much. 8/10

Hey Dark,
Robocop (1987, Paul Verhoeven) One of Verhoeven's best. 8/10
3:10 to Yuma (2007, James Mangold) Never seen the original. I liked Russell Crowe, but thought that Christian Bale and Ben Foster gave rather weak performances. 5/10
Oh I thought Ben Foster was superb He was effective, but I found his performance too one-note.

First Time Viewing:
The Goldfinch (2019; John Crowley) - Fine production values and great cinematography, but the decision to the tell the story in a non-linear way hurts the movie. Ansel Elgort is rather wooden as the lead, but Nicole Kidman and Jeffrey Wright are excellent. 5/10
The New Kids (1985; Sean S. Cunningham) - Unoriginal but gripping exploitation thriller. 6/10
The Red Violin (1999; Francois Girard) - I've been intrigued by the story of this movie ever since I first heard about it, yet it took me over two decades to finally watch it. It tells the tale of a cursed violin over several centuries. Sadly I found it all rather dull and the various characters remained quite bland. A waste of potential. 4/10.
Snow White: A Tale Of Terror (1997; Michael Cohn) - A horror re-telling of the famous fairy tale. Due to some creative differences between director and studio this was denied a theatrical release and ended up a financial flop. It's a weird movie, too mild for horror fans but too disturbing for a family film. Sigourney Weaver is great as the wicked stepmother though and it has some intesting touches. 6.5/10
Storyville (1992; Mark Frost) - Twin Peaks co-creator Frost tried to repeat the series magic formula with this thriller, but despite a great New Orleans setting and a superb Carter Burwell score I found this too cryptic and unengaging. 4.5/10

But somehow they still managed to make the 3rd act work. I gave the movie a 7/10 as well.
