Hi all, I don't normally post on this board. But I'm a believer and if any other believers feel led to, my mom has stage 4 lung cancer. She has a pet scan coming up, and her doctor says there's a chance her cancer will be in remission with her current treatment. If it is, she's going to have a surgery she needs. So that is my request. enigma72, tagged you because I know you're a prayer warrior. I know people like to argue the validity of faith on this board, but I'd appreciate snide comments and negativity not be included in this thread, it's not meant for that kind of debate, thank you.

I better not pray, cause I have no guardian angel, no matter how much I beg for help from God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. I appear to be one of the "decoys" or "diversions". Thanks a lot, God. I've prayed well over a hundred thousand times, and even applied myself to struggle to make good things happen, and never ever had anything but negative results. That can't be coincidence. 0 out of about 333,000 can't be coincidence.
So, I would pray if my prayers had even a remote chance of being honored, but since my prayers for her recovery would surely cause the evil angels to make her worse, I won't pray. I hope some " blessed" and "anointed" people pray for her, though, but most of the "blessed" and "anointed" people are so self righteous and smug in their superiority complexes that they think they are Gods, and who can trust them to pray for good things?
Maybe one of the "anointed" people will read this and relent from thinking he or she is superior to God, and actually humble himself or herself into prayer for you. There are people who can just "speak" the word and it happens. I've seen them do it. But they hate Jesus and think they are the cause of all things. They like to say they "achieve" these things on their own merit. You need one of them to pray for her. Good luck with that.

I have been in remission for 31 years. I hope your mother achieves remission, too. She is very fortunate to have you for a daughter; your love and support is so important. But remember to take care of yourself, too.

I have been in remission for 31 years. I hope your mother achieves remission, too. Thank you, Rachel. The doctor is keeping it real and making sure she understands remission is not a cure, it's borrowed time. But I'm hoping this will buy her a few more years. Right now her goal is to stay well enough for the Alabama concert in November. She loves them. The last time they came her husband (kicked out now) took his girlfriend instead of her. I'm going to try and get us excellent seats! Front row if I can, I don't care about the cost.

Y'know, I never say the word 'cure', even after all this time. I never thought I would live to this age, all those years ago. Treatment bought me more time than I ever expected. Just keep living in the moment, and having quality time!

I will drink many beers to your mothers health. <3 All positive thoughts are appreciated! My mom has a single glass of wine every night, and I occasionally join her (in more than one). In fact, she told my brother and I when the time comes, she doesn't want a funeral, she wants us to go out to dinner and have a drink in her honor

Sending positive thoughts your way and to your mom!
My mom passed from lung cancer in 2005. Nonsmoker, had one cigarette her entire life, but my dad and grandmother smoked (both gone by 1978), and her coworkers made fun of her for complaining about the entire office smoking - they gave her a mask as a gag gift.
That said, since she's passed, lung cancer treatments have made great progress!

My late husband smoked like a chimney, and never developed lung cancer, he died of something completely unrelated. I think genetics plays more of a part than we know. But your mother's co-workers certainly were insensitive. My husband never smoked around me because of my risk for recurrent breast cancer. If it was to recur, it would be in bone, brain, liver or lungs. So far, so good, but one never knows.

I don't practice any religion but I do hope your mother does well with the treatment. WKD and I had a friend that survived over 10 years after treatment for lung cancer, he said he had stage 4. Some people do great with treatment.
