There's what, 6 or 7 different television series and 13 movies. Do you think it's too daunting for people who might be interested in breaking into the fandom? Can Star Trek make new fans at this point?

You don't have to watch every film and/or see every show.

I can see that. It would take up half a year. Luckily I'm not interested in watching any of the Star Trek TV shows. Getting through all the movies is quite easy though. I don't like the movies enough to watch the shows.

The OP doesn't mean intelligence-wise. OP means time-wise. It would actually be easier to start it when you were a kid, because that would give you more time to spread everything out.

There's plenty of streaming devices to catch up on decades of Trek then there's also the more important fact that there's no Klingon dressed serial killer holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to catch up.

Come on, we live in the binge watching era. It's easier to watch now than before due to streaming. They are easily available now. I figure all of them are on blu-ray. It's only intimidating to a kid in that way lol.

Original Series Next Generation Deep Space Nine Voyager Enterprise Discovery Picard That original series animated show and the animated Lower Decks.
Outside of streaming, all the shows/movies are at least on DVD. Original Series, Next Generation, Discovery, Picard, and the movies are on Blu-ray.

Oh Jesus...
That's like asking if watching... all the MCU films, or all the Bond films, or the entire "The Simpsons" show, or every story of "Doctor Who" since the 1960s... is intimidating... And Star Wars is starting to get like this too...
Watch them, or Don't... If you can't handle such incredible franchises...
Then go back to something more simple, like sucking on a Lollipop... That's a good ship, for the simple minded!

The length of time can be intimidating. I get stressed just thinking about starting a new show. There are 8 Star Trek TV series and 13 movies. That is a lot of time spent watching Star Trek.

I'd say the length of time committed to watching everything Star Trek is intimidating, but not TOO intimidating.
I have no interest in watching any of the TV series, but I get a bit stressed whenever I think about starting any show that has more than 5 seasons. That doesn't have much effect on whether I will watch a show though.
And that only applies to a show if I like the first season. If I start a new show and dislike the first season, than I have no desire to finish the show. If I start a show with a bunch of seasons and like the first season, then watching the rest of the show doesn't feel like a chore anymore.

I don't think so. Just watch some episodes of the original series and continue from there if you like it.

I don't think so. Before 2013 I could count the full length episodes of any of the Star Trek shows I'd seen on one hand. Netflix let me start with the original series and now I've done that, all of TNG and season 6 of Deep Space 9.
I ain't doing it for other fans of the show, I'm doing it for me. It's my brain.
