Why do so many peole keep reading and following the Bible?
Yeah, I understand it might be a funny ork of fiction to many people, but it's really boring for me and most people.
On the other hand, what's really shocking is the fact milllions of people follow the Bible like it was some kind of Book of Life Facts and structure their own minds based on thiss work of fiction.
Truly disturbing.

Well it does have som good stories in it.
The main problem is that far to many people think that the stories are real.

I view the Bible the same way I view stuff like Greek mythology - a lot of interesting fantasy tales with some history mixed in. It’s idiotic to live your life based on ancient mythology and it’s supposed values, the Bible contradicts itself many times as well as being illogical, so it’s really stupid to devote your life to living by “biblical values”.

Why?
Based on my experience... Most people who have religions in their lives tend to be good people who are helpful and respect others... While most others become lowlifes who are selfish, and enjoy seeing others suffer...
Also, since people have started dropping religions, our world is becoming more & more of a shithole.
Coincidence?
Maybe, reading the "good" book, and learning it's life lessons isn't such a bad thing...

Religious people are more ignorant and judgmental than non religious people, and devoting your life to believing in fairy tales and obsessing over death is a terrible way to live.

The god of the bible drowned millions of babies, commanded genocide and gave guidance on who can be enslaved, where to get your slaves, how long you can keep them and that you can beat them as violently as you want as long as they don't die after a couple of days. Edit: So if you want to be a ruthless and effective tyrant, the bible is a Good Book for you.

You’re a dumbass. Religious people are more ignorant and judgmental than non religious people, and devoting your life to believing in fairy tales and obsessing over death is a terrible way to live. The reason I'm not judgmental is because I'm religious. Judge not lest ye be judged. So you think that religious people should keep out of other people's business? That they shouldn't try to get laws changed to conform to their religious beliefs (e.g. abortion laws or trans rights)? If religious people really did just quietly "do their own thing and left everyone else alone to do theirs" then there would be a lot less of an issue. But they don't seem able to do that. And why do they insist that their club houses - sorry, "churches" - deserve to be task exempt? If they were using all the millions they rake in to help the needy that would be one thing but we all know how wealthy the people at the top of most religions are. And they didn't get there through hard work, did they?

At least that is my personal experience with religious people.

One reason to read the Bible, at least for people in the US is that US culture is laced with it. So many idioms, social guidelines and norms and many sayings/quotes/examples/humorous stories come from it.
And if you don't know the story of Adam and Eve...how will you get the "It was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" meme?
And you might not get this joke.
And...how could one understand why the Evangelicals are so keen to help Israel and make sure they occupy Jerusalem if you didn't realize them returning to Israel and Jerusalem is a sign of the rapture...the return of Christ when Christ will return and restore law and order.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg...you know the iceberg that sank the ark in the story of Noah.

I personally find it interesting that the Bible has made such a huge influence on humanity, (both positively and negatively) compared to any religious text out there which makes it fascinating enough to read and study as a scholar and intriguing for both spiritual and nonspiritual people alike. The Bible can also be read in so many ways, interpretations, and perspectives that theres always something new to take from it and makes it forever the most influential book in history.
I don't find reading the actual Bible interesting itself, but I do find different viewpoints and the thousands of christian religions that came from inspiration of the Bible interesting. It reflects a lot about the human condition of wanting to believe in something that makes them feel they have greater meaning and purpose in their lives. Religions can help people feel like they are part of a community and feelings of love and acceptance where they may not be able to find anywhere else.

You’re a dumbass. Religious people are more ignorant and judgmental than non religious people, and devoting your life to believing in fairy tales and obsessing over death is a terrible way to live. The reason I'm not judgmental is because I'm religious. Judge not lest ye be judged. I wonder if that is really the reason you are not judgmental. Or is it that "Judge not lest ye be judged" is a selected Bible quote that pleasantly conforms to your own innately non-judgmental pre-disposition. The Bible teaches people to be judgmental in a "right, and non-hypocritical" way: www.gotquestions.org/Christians-judgmental.htmlI have the feeling that if you suddenly lost all your religious faith, you would still be a non-judgmental person.

Big problem with those of you with the religion of "If it's in the Bible, I refuse to believe it", is that you have to read every word of the Bible in a legitimate translation in order to hold onto your religion of "If it's in the Bible, I refuse to believe it".
Must be nice to have that kind of blind, self righteous, chauvinist faith. I could never attain that level of blind, self righteous, chauvinist faith of sheep like yourself. You truly are blessed.
