the sequel to The Karate Kid. Became one of the only sequels at the time to outgross the original. Not as iconic or as memorable as the first but does a good job of focusing on the Miyagi character and not feeling like a retread of the original.

I thought it was surprisingly decent. I liked the Japanese setting and Daniel's love interest was a very appealing character.
Still doesn't touch the original though.

An underrated sequel, we kind of get to see Miyagi's origins in a way. It doesn't feel like a repeat of the first.
A well made sequel. Chozen was such a badass villain.

One of the few sequels that is almost as good as the original. I agree that Chozen was extremely threatening, much more so than Johnny in the first one. Johnny always seemed more like a classic hazer in a frat house, but Chozen was out for blood.
The Okinawa setting was well done.

Liked this one. Definitely the best besides the original.

Can't help turning on the original nearly every time it shows up on tv.
The chemistry between Morita and Macchio is pure magic. While it remains intact in the sequel and holds the film together, there is too much retread (Macchio runs afoul of bullies and must fight to save his honor). And I couldn't help thinking he was pretty quick to forget Elizabeth Shue and get hot with that Japanese babe. I don't think Liz was waiting for him in Kid III, anyway.
Made to cash in on the original (aren't all sequels?) and not as bad as it might have been.

I don't think Johnny was truly a bad person at heart, Chozen was a sociopath on the other hand.

In the "Cobra Kai" TV Series they suggest that Johnny was just a part of the "wrong crowd"... and he felt like Daniel was trying to take his girl away from him, and Daniel did some bullying too. If you watch the first couple of seasons, and then watch the first film again... You can kind of see that. Either way, you can see that Johnny respects Daniel and the end of the tournament... A true bad person would not have done that.
