opened 19 years after the previous installment and was a box office failure. The movie is BORING. One of the most dull movies ever made. You can tell also Bryan Singer knows nothing about Superman outside of what he saw in the Donner films (which is probably true of JJ Abrams as well who is producing a new Superman movie). He also let the budget spiral out of control by doing things like filming an entire Krypton prologue that he ended up cutting out of the movie Should have taken a page from the previous years Batman Begins instead. Kevin Spacey is actually pretty good as Lex Luthor at least and Brandon Routh probably could have been a good Superman if he had been given good material Interesting movie came out the same summer as The Da Vinci Code which is also one of the most boring blockbusters ever made

Miscast Kate Bosworth. Overlong. The movie being too much of a valentine to Donner's work. Routh was also a bland Superman.

I used to really dislike it. Now it’s just aggressive ambivalence. There are a few things I like. Kevin Spacey is excellent casting and he has some darkly comic moments. But his plan is stupid. How did he expect to not get the chair for destroying what looked like half of Europe and North America? I was never a fan of Brandon Routh’s Superman. Kate Bosworth is too young to play Lois Lane. They should have switched roles and cast James Marsden and Parker Posey instead. The supporting cast isn’t terrible. Frank Langella and Sam Huntington as Perry White and Jimmy Olsen, that’s not bad. But why cast Kal Penn if he’s not gonna say anything? And as a generic henchman? That’s odd. The airplane rescue scene is genuinely exciting and the best scene in the movie. The shot of the bullet bouncing off his eyeball in the bank robbery scene is pretty cool. But as you and others have pointed out since it’s release, the movie is just a chore to get through.

Crap movie. Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman were both way better in my opinion.

I would not go as far as calling it crap, but its a very mediocre movie.
And Kate Bosworth was far to young to play Lois Lane, i think she was 22 or 23 and i could be wrong as i have never read the comics but in my head Lois is in her mid 30s
I did actually watch it at the cinema.

Tell me something... When in the history of movie megalomaniac supervillains wanting world domination has any of them ever given a shit about getting the electric chair? Name me just one.

I like it, always thought it got a bit too much of a bad rap. Could’ve been about 15-30 minutes shorter and used more action though.
