this movie just randomly popped up in my head yesterday even though I haven't seen it in a while From 2004 it’s a fun thriller about a woman being held hostage in her basement because the villains want an incriminating tape her husband has and she uses a broken cellphone which ends up randomly calling Chris Evans’ character. He must do whatever it takes to stay on the line otherwise he will lose her completely and must help thwart the villains and stop them from getting the tape. A fun fast paced thriller. This is kind of a breakout role for Chris Evans after he was mostly in dumb teen roles like Not Another Teen Movie and The Perfect Score. He is very good here. Statham is here after he played the hero in the first Transporter but I think he tends to work better as a villain. Kim Basinger does a great job at portraying the fear and terror her character must feel and also she is a total MILF here. Also it’s really nostalgic to see the old flip phones being utilized so heavily. Worth a watch for thriller/Chris Evans/Statham fans if you haven’t seen it

Yeah it’s kind of goofy but still fun. William H. Macy is good as the cop just trying to retire as well.

I appreciated how threatening Jason Statham was in this movie. It's hard because the man has such a natural intimidation factor already, but he was scary in this.
Yeah it's a decent movie. Fun. Haven't seen it since the one time but I liked it.

Yeah he was pretty solid as the villain. I listened to a podcast talk about this move and that part where he holds a belt around Kim Basinger's neck(?) was apparently improvised.

I agree, Statham is such a badass villain in this. It's truly a shame he doesn't villains more often. The movie has a nice concept. Basinger, Evans and Macy give decent performances. Fun action thriller.

That could be terrifying. It must be surreal to be in roles where you're held down or dragged by the hair, something violent, and keep your wits. I don't know if you saw mother! (I won't say much if you didn't) but there was a scene where I thought man, if I were Jennifer Lawrence I'd be terrified.

Terrible film, half the cast thought they were in a different film, total mash of tones, maybe in my bottom 100 or close

6/10 half the cast thought they were in a different film How so? Well there are two separate stories throughout the film that only meet up at the end. The tone of the Kim Basinger is very seriousness acted that way. The other story with William h Macy is a totally comedy they don’t seem like they happen on the same planet. It’s one of the most absurd things I’ve ever seen.
