There's also the 1990s Jungle Book remake by Disney. That one I actually like the best. Disney might have produced it, but is it really a remake of the 1967 movie? The 2016 version has singing, talking animals and Mowgli is a young boy through the whole movie and there are no other human characters. That makes the 2016 movie more of a direct remake of the 1967 movie imo.

I just found the '94 film to be such a rollicking adventure yarn and a forerunner to Stephen Sommers' later work on the Mummy movies.

I am not saying anything about you liking the movie (it could be your favorite movie for all I care), just explaining why I think the 2016 movie as a remake and the 1994 movie isn't. The 1994 movie is just another adaptation of the books. The new Disney movies are being sold as remakes of the animated movies, though some are closer to the animated originals than others. Dumbo is probably the most different compared to the animated version and The Lion King I have heard is almost shot for shot. This is for everyone who is wondering. My personal favorite version of The Jungle Book is the 1942 movie.

Giving the edge to 1967, but the remake is the best of the live-action remakes Disney pumped out the last 10 years.

Although the remake is maybe the best of this wave of remakes, I far prefer the original animated one… it’s actually my second favourite traditionally animated Disney film

67 although I agree that the 16 remake is actually well done. It’s probably my favorite of the unnecessary remakes.

1967, but I do really like the 2016 film, the only remake worth anything imo.

I honestly can't choose. I like them both equally, they're both great at achieving the kind of movie they want to be.

Can't vote as I've only seen the animated version. It's my favourite vintage Disney movie though.

There's also the 1990s Jungle Book remake by Disney. Seen that one. It's not bad, especially given the technological limitations of the time, but the 1967 film is far superior and exudes charm.

www.imdb.com/title/tt0110213/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_6I'd have to vote for the 1994 version with Jason Scott Lee as Mowgli (Cary Elwes of PRINCESS BRIDE is the villain, Lena Heady is the love-interest, Sam Neill is her father, & John Cleese is their physician friend who saves Balloo's life), and it's my favourite version. Disney+ does NOT offer it, despite it being a Disney film and Lee still working for disney (he was a voice actor in LILO & STITCH and I believe he's in the live-action MULAN movie). There is also the 1942 version. www.imdb.com/title/tt0034928/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_8This one stars Sabu as Mowgli, it was one of my favourite movies growing up, I think I wore out at least two VHS copies of it and if I ever find a DVD copy, I will instantly do cartwheels!
