RIP. There’s no telling how the superhero genre would’ve turned out if it wasn’t for him.

There’s no telling how the superhero genre would’ve turned out if it wasn’t for him. Yeah, I've seen a couple of documentaries about the early stages of production for Superman: The Movie (1978), before Dick Donner came on board... Totally Horrible... When he took over, he and Tom Mankiewicz, took a lot of the jokey comedy out of the script, and a lot of realism was added in. 'You'll Believe A Man Can Fly', referenced a lot more than just special effects... That movie has been a major benchmark for many films and shows that followed. I also love "The Goonies" (1985), another film he did. R.I.P.

With none of those powers or no powers of any kind, I still couldn't save him.
He was surely and truly a Lethal Weapon when it came to directing movies and establishing the ultimate template for epic, blockbuster superhero movies.
And just epic, blockbuster movies, period.
