I might be the only one who actually really likes the remake and got a bunch of laughs from it. Don’t think the original is horrible, but it’s not the movie everyone made it out to be.

1975.
For the record though, Roger Ebert agreed with you and said in his review that he found the 2004 film to be better.

1975
I don't hate the "remake" as much as many people do, but I definitely don't like it.
It is more of a parody than a remake, but it still does qualify imo.

I always found Oz’s remakes to be more parody than full on remakes. Little Shop Of Horrors the original I think was meant to be scary (could be wrong), but Oz decided to make his version based on the musical which was a FANTASTIC idea.

Frank Oz directing MAY have helped that. Honestly I didn't hate it, but it had some issues that really prevented me from liking it all that much. I mean, the film's infamous plothole was just a bridge too far I think. So...are the women robots or are they under mind control? The movie literally presents both answers as being correct, which is asinine. And then the ending with Larry King was laughable and felt unbelievably tacked on. I think Oz should have just used whatever the original ending was, it had to have been better by default.

For the record, I much prefer the 1986 Little Shop of Horrors over the original.

The 86 movie actually helped me with my performance of Seymour in a production of Little Shop I was in.

There was a whole scene in the climax where the mind control chip (or whatever it was) was deactivated and the women went back to being themselves. If this was the method used for controlling the women, why was there a robotic replica built of Kidman's character ready to take her place earlier in the film?

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it.

Marlon Brando as Rupret in the original is a wonder to behold.

Bedtime Story was really hard for me to get into after I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Then I saw The Hustle the female led remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and well that’s a movie for another thread.

The difference is that I never liked Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

1975. I liked how the remake opened up but then got bored with the rest of it. I just think the remake is uninspired, annoying and largely unfunny. The original is atmospheric, suspenseful and creepy.
