I guess it goes w/o saying but Friedkin has no involvement, according to Green.

Remaking it would have not worked, but continuing the story is not a bad idea. Now I'm looking forward to this a bit more, especially having just watched all five of the movies in a binge-sesh yesterday.

David Gordon Green is a good filmmaker, but his recent work has soured me on him a bit. It's more encouraging now that he's said he's taking a completely different approach to it than he did with Halloween, but man, Halloween Ends makes it tough to be hopeful about his sensibilities.

I do have some respect for that. But on the other hand, I thought it was so poorly executed, and then by still doing the ending that we all expected he, to me, just sort of chickened out and lost the audacity of making that choice. The central story isn't necessarily a bad idea, and if he knocked it out of the park I'd totally respect it, but he took a risk and failed to fulfill it, didn't go even have the balls to really go through with it. It was so ill-advised all the way through that I just can't embrace it on any level really

It's audacious they kept that for the last movie. I didn't hate it. But I can see why others did.

When I watched Ends, I had honestly assumed that Corey had actually been introduced somewhere along the way and I had just forgotten about him. Completely agree with goons also on the ending. It's a total chicken-shit, studio-placating move that practically undoes everything that leads up to it.
