It’s been so long since I watched this but I remember liking Volcano better I think. I do remember the grandma scene and it is a reference to that old man that refused to leave during the Mr. St. Helens explosion. That’s already been addressed. I remember the old In Search of epsiode with Leonard Nimoy, I think they interviewed that old man too. I like the disaster genre but I think the real classics were from the 70s like Earthquake and Towering Inferno. I do like Twister though, it’s got a unique “twist” on the genre.

Fifth...I know they were trapped but lets take a boat ride across acid lake and hope for the best? Come on really? If I remember correctly, when they got into the boat, they didn't realize that the water was becoming acidic. They only noticed while they were already in the middle of the lake. At that point there was no turning back. Anyway, I've always liked Dante's Peak. It's a fun movie and it's pretty much a documentary when you compare it with the other volcano movie released that year. The one with Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche.

Just watched this and it has some serious juice for a solid portion of the runtime.
I was pretty impressed.

As the Truman fact clearly portrays, stupidity and realistic can by synonymous.
