The original was about a seven on the 1-10 scale and this movie started the slide to where the latest was a one. My MAIN problem with this film was the introduction of 'Yoda'....
.... Luke, wanting to be a good Jedi, goes to a swamp and meets...... ....Fozzy Bear!
That ended the franchise for me!
Good God, couldn't they get someone other than a Muppet actor? No matter how interesting or not the story, all I can ever hear is Fozzy Bear. I half expect Yoda to crack a lame joke.

Congratulations on being the only person to ever feel that way about Yoda.

Congratulations on being the only person to ever feel that way about Yoda. Funny, there were 6 of us that seen the movie when it came out, and when Yoda first appeared, the whole group erupted with "FOZZY!" Maybe we don't hold sacred the things that belong to a cult od followers.

I'm willing to bet you're the only one of those six kids who dislikes Yoda, though. Also, I don't hold anything in Star Wars sacred. I just don't get hung up on recognizing actors from other things.

That's unfortunate you hold Frank Oz's work in such low regard. He's an excellent puppeteer (Fozzie the Bear, Miss Piggy, Sam the Eagle, Animal, Marvin Suggs, Bert, Cookie Monster, Grover, etc). However, he's so much more than that too. His work as a director is great with movies like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, What About Bob?, Bowfinger, and Little Shop of Horrors being some of my favorite comedies.

Yoda was so cool and funny, I didn't mind the insertion of a muppet. (In fact, I liked Empire Strikes Back better than Star Wars.)
What ended the franchise for me was Return of the Jedi. That movie could've been called Toys R Us.

In the minority you are. A brilliant character, Yoda is.

Stupid freaking Ewoks, way to ruin a franchise Lucas.

Sounds more like you and your movie-going convent are the real cult. I've been following SW all my life and I've never heard of this instantaneous, overwhelming connection of Yoda to Fozzie Bear! Never ever! In all the forums, fanbase gatherings, and discussions and viewings with friends or family. Not one Fozzy. Please let us know where you live so we can be prepared for you and your groupies quirky Yoda/Fozzy obsession.

Sure it wasn't 10/10 like The first two but it was still a 9/10 in my opinion, I don't know maybe I just watched it enough as a kid that I began to tolerate the Ewoks.

One of the great things for me about The Empire Strikes Back was the increased focus on Han Solo. In ROTJ, Han Solo's storyline was severely reduced, which really sucked. I also hated the Leia and Luke sister-brother revelation. It was ridiculous to push that into the story after Luke clearly had romantic inclinations towards Leia in Star Wars.

It's actually A Thing.

Interesting, ColdenHaulfield, I had never considered that factor in the Luke and Leia relationship. And being twins, I believe the connection would be even more intense.

Yep-when I heard Yoda for the first time in 1980 my thought was Grover.
But I didn't think he was Yoda. I figured Yoda would be a Brian Blessed or Franco Nero guy sitting on a chair in the swamp. It was a neat twist.
Yoda could be kind of a scary asshole when you think about it.
I still can't believe how good that puppet looked. In the behind the scenes footage it looked really fake. The lighting was amazing on it.
I know someone who worked at ILM and said the actual models for a lot of things didnt look so good in person.
They had Han Solo in carbonite as well as Jar Jar in carbonite.
