A few others
Car radios with "push button" tuning. Five little push buttons for your favorite stations The Bicentennial. The Bicentennial Moments on TV, The Big Ships etc The aborted US conversion to the Metric System. I remember one whole year of math class devoted to converting miles to kilometers, gallons to liters, because the US was converting. "Think Metric" Encyclopedias Getting the TV Guide in the mail and marking the shows you wanted to watch Comet Kohoutek. What a fizzle that was

I remember all those except Kohoutek, and I was a nerdy kid that could name every planet, number of moons, distance from the sun, length of year, wrote letters to NASA and JPL, and had gone to see lectures by people like J Allen Hyneck. So what was the deal with Kohoutek?

It was supposed to be the Great Comet. At the end of 1973. Scientists thought it might be visible in the daytime. Bigger than Halley’s or Hale-Bopp. And with the closest approach to be around Christmas, there was all the Star of Bethlehem parallels. It even had a story arc in Peanuts, with Snoopy and Woodstock thinking it was the end of the world. But it was a colossal dud.

Has anyone tried to actually guess everyone's age based on these clues? Point taken... Anybody willing to try to hazard our ages? Anybody willing to give MY OWN AGE a guess, based upon what I shared....? ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/iqp324knt/bounce.gif)

CD player Facebook, no Instagram Austin Powers impressions Westside hand sign Knowing my Hogwarts house I'll try, kid of the late 80s - 90s, born 1983, maybe as early as 1979.
edit, rationale 1) Late 80s 2) Relatively recent 3) Late 90s 4) ? No idea what this means 5) Early 2000s
edit, changing my guess to late 80s, 1989

1. I watched Saturday morning cartoons, when I was a kid, 2. Star Wars was the Harry Potter of its day, when I was a kid, 3. Before he went off to Hollywood, the late movie actor Corey Haim was my schoolmate, for a brief while. 4. Fluorescent coloured-clothing was a fad for a brief time, when I was a teenager. 5. In high school, I did a co-op in a kindergarten, & movie actor Hayden Christensen's little sister was in the class.
Born 1969.
1) covers decades 2) late 70s - early 80s 3) Lost Boys 4) Not where I lived but it could only be one era, mid-late 80s.
5) Means nothing to me

Off by 2 years (Born in 1971, not '69). 1)True but, they kind of went out, sometime in the '90s. 2) Correct. 3)Yep. He of The Lost Boys fame. 4)Mid 80s actually. 5)Hayden Christensen played Anakin Skywalker in 2 of those 3 awful Star Wars prequels.
