while I don't think I'm as crazy for this movie has some others and I think the kids can be a little irritating at times (mainly Corey Feldman, Fuck Corey Feldman!) there is no denying this is an effective coming of age movie and probably very nostalgic to many people. Though it is interesting in the end when the movie tells us our main characters lost contact with his friends over the years. Back then that made perfect sense, but these days in the age of social media, it would be very easy to keep in constant with your buddies or reconnect with them. Probably the main good thing about social media (and there are plenty of bad things, you better believe it)

It’s probably my second favorite movie of all time. I love it.

I'm not as enthusiastic as most about the film, but it does bring back memories of walking down the tracks on a hot summer day when waves of heat rippled the air in front of you and the smell of creosote filled your lungs.
Unfortunately, they could not reproduce that reality in the movie.

Probably my second favorite Stephen King movie after The Shawshank Redemption. Neither of which are anywhere near my favorite King stories. Even if i only include the shorter ones. Kind of interesting how some stories are done better by certain media than others.

How'd you rank them? To be clear I mean King novels, rather than movies. I enjoy both as films, and Stand By Me especially Id rank amongst my all time favorites, King or not. As far as novels go...they're both part of Different Seasons, which contains 4 novellas (shorter than novels but longer than a short story)...and I enjoyed Apt Pupil more than either. Probably have the Body above Shawshank...but compared to other short story collections I loved all of Hearts in Atlantis more than either....and The Langoliers, The Mist, Last Rung on the Ladder and The Jaunt...just to name a few.
