As many folks from the "old" boards know, I'm an artichoke fanatic. Asparagus follows as a close 2nd.

As many folks from the "old" boards know, I'm an artichoke fanatic. Asparagus follows as a close 2nd. Bought an artichoke the other day for $4, way more than I ever paid for one. It just looked so good. Big, round, tight, squeaky when squeezed, great color. Best one I've ever had, and just steamed about 45 minutes with nothing on it. Asparagus you can throw right in the compost, if it doesn't ruin it.

That's exactly how I cook them. And, I like a little mayo dip for the leaves. Some techniques call for tearing the "choke," and stuffing the shell, before cooking. I think that defeats the purpose of the wonderful nutty flavor of the leaves/choke.
As for the price, yep ... they're going up, along with everything else.

Hard to pick just one...
As far as fresh vegetables, I like mixed greens and crunchy vegetables such as chopped cabbage, cucumbers, celery and carrots blended into a salad topped with chunks of tomatoes and a good sharp dressing.
Cooked vegetables, I like corn in butter sauce, yellow crookneck squash, Japanese eggplant, mushrooms, and baby bok choy.

Vegetables are hard for me to get excited about. I need some real food that has some guts to it

I have so many. Brussel Sprouts is one. Artichokes. Broccoli. Cauliflower. Green beans. The list goes on.
Fruits? Not so much. It's all about the veggies for me.
