THE WILD WILD WEST - The Night of the Underground Terror-- For once an episode that does mostly take place at night. A prison camp commandant is wanted for torturing prisoners by ex-inmates who have various impairments and seek revenge on him. But are they telling the truth? It was a pretty good episode for the twists and turns.
MANNIX - A Copy of Murder - A writer is killed and Mannix is sent by the publisher to track down the manuscript's missing pages. But there is a corrupt cop (Clifton James, who else?) tracking him and making it hard. Funny scene where James is in his hotel room and after Mannix gets off a phone-he writes a message in a notebook and goes into another room. James goes to check the message and it says "stop reading other people's notes."
CANNON - Moving Target - Gordon Pinsent is a writer who wrote a fake biography on a reclusive business magnate and plans another book describing how he did it. But his co-conspirator drops dead during a live talk show. He hires Cannon to protect him and the detective is skeptical--suspecting it may be another hoax. But after he saves the author's life by discovering a letter bomb,he takes the case in earnest. But Pinsent is so paranoid (and stupid--he tells Cannon where they should meet even though he was warned not to speak on the phone--leading to another murder attempt) he suspects Cannon is going to betray him, leading to a scene where his bodyguard has to knock him unconscious and stuff him in a car.

MCMILLAN & WIFE - Death of a Monster...Birth of a Legend - The McMillans go to Scotland (California with some strategic bagpipes placement and Roddy McDowall affecting a strong accent) to uncover a murder mystery. Rock Hudson looks really different in the show--as if he had a facelift or something. And John Schuck lost a lot weight himself. Premiered 50 years ago today.

THE INVADERS - Wall of Crystal - We learn David Vincent has a brother (Linden Chiles) and that he had contacted a tv reporter (Burgess Meredith) months before and now comes back to him with proof of the aliens. Meredith is going to expose the aliens until alien Ed Asner kidnaps Vincent's brother. It seems to me that they would have probably gone after his brother earlier but whatever.
BANACEK - No Stone Unturned - A 12-foot, 5000 pound statue disappears from an exhibit. Banacek is reluctantly sent by Linden Chiles to find it. I guessed how it was done after 5 minutes first time I saw this. Premiered 50 years ago this week.

^^^ To me, Family Matters is the best show done by a cast of African American actors/actresses.
God bless you and the remaining cast members always!!!
Holly
P.S. In December, it will be 25 years since we lost Michelle Thomas who gave us the character of Myra.

Sometimes you get a random synchronicity.
MANNIX S 5 Ep 1 -- Dark So Early, Dark So Long - A school friend of Mannix (Rosemary Forsyth) with a history of mental issues is suspected of killing a man and ultimately jailed despite efforts to conceal blame. But it turns out she was being manipulated by a family member who did the actual killing.
A client also tells Mannix that she tried a big agency which uses computer to find people. He smiles as he assumes it is Intertect, his employer in the first season.
CANNON - Death of a Stone Seahorse
A woman (Sondra Locke) with a history of mental issues is suspected of killing a man and ultimately jailed despite efforts to conceal blame. But it turns out she was being manipulated by a family member who did the actual killing.
There is a guy in this who has the exact same appearance as Guy Stockwell in the last show.
Cannon has two fights. His second is with David Soul and he tells him:
"That chisel isn't big enough to take a chunk out of me kid.
He also says he doesn't want to scuba dive and be responsible for a tidal wave.

NIGHT GALLERY- They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar/The Last Laurel
MCCLOUD - Butch Cassidy Rides Again - A gang dressed like old west bandits is robbing banks and trains in the city and Sam McCloud is caught in the middle--and being hassled by a snooping reporter also named Sam (Stephanie Powers) who thwarts his relationship with a columnist named Geri March (Linda Evans). We assume she is standing in for Chris Caughlin. Lots of amusing sequences in this one. Premiered 50 years ago today.
McCloud: Now, Chief, I think I've got us a breakthrough.
Clifford: Now don't try to change the subject, McCloud. You couldn't get off the hook if you came in here with your own obituary.

THE WILD WILD WEST - The Night of the Death Masks-- Jim West wakes up in an abandoned town as part of a revenge scheme against him by an escaped convict. It covers familiar territory but I thought it was decent if not in the better camp.
PETROCELLI - The Gamblers --saccharine is the way to describe this one which has a return appearance by Mark Hamill--once again playing the true murderer part for the courtroom reveal. I am guessing Star Wars wasn't too far after this.

IRONSIDE - Ring of Prayer - Barbara Rush is a witch who is able to cause two people to die by suggestion--and Ironside has to beat her at her own game. The regular characters act differently from previous seasons. The tone of season 5 is really bizarre.
McMILLAN & WIFE - The Devil You Say -- Sally gets a warning that she is in danger (again) and it leads to a satanic cult where the members run around in Boris Karloff masks. There's a pretty good portrait sculpture of her in the show too. John Fielder plays a police scientist named Simpson but in the credits is listed as Sykes (the role John Astin played). Premiered 50 years ago tonight.

NIGHT GALLERY - Class of '99 - Vincent Price as professor of a class of graduates being given a final exam. The exterior for the futuristic school was Simon Fraser University--a place I have been. Sure is weird to see it in an episode of an old tv show.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: The Killing - A Murder Inc. boss is targeted by the team with an elaborate ghost scam with is pretty funny--the extent of the BS in order to trap the guy. I liked it.
BANACEK: "If Max Is So Smart, Why Doesn't He Tell Us Where He Is?" A computer disappears from a building and leaves a lot of space for Anne Baxter scenery chewing. Premiered this month 50 years ago.

McMILLAN & WIFE "Freefall to Terror" - An old friend of Mac's jumps out a window --but no body is found on the pavement. 3 hours later while Mac and others are standing on the street, the body finishes its journey. As Enright says afterwards, "he sure took the long way down." Barbara Feldon gets a dramatic role-I don't think I have seen her in anything outside of Get Smart, and Barbara Rhoades makes her fourth appearance on the show. Tom Bosley and James Olson are potential suspects. Sally is almost killed twice-and in one incident she is trapped in a garage with a car running. This happened to Mac a while back and it took him forever to figure out how to save himself. She did it by cutting the ignition wires.
I can't get used to a skinny Enright.
Premiered 50 years ago tonight.
