SARGE - John Michael O'Flaherty Presents the 11 O'Clock War - Jack Cassidy is a tabloid reporter who slanders a gym run by police for young offenders and stages an attempted murder on himself so he can increase his ratings. It ends with him destroying his career by going into a live rant about the communist takeover of America via schools and churches. What a looney conspiracy theory.
McMillan & Wife - Husbands and Wives and Killers - The humor in this show is often quite witty.

Been watching My Favorite Martian on Tubi. Haven't seen it since the early 70s when I watched it in re-runs as a kid. Silly, but a cute and funny show. Ray Walston is great.

THE WILD WILD WEST - The Night of the Arrow- This was really interesting with some good twists. The command post of a colonel with presidential ambitions and a reputation for indian killing is the scene of an attack by fake Sioux warriors, Jim and Artie have to stop it from causing a war. Three amusing disguises by Artie. One of the best shows of the series I would say.
IRONSIDE - Robert Phillips vs the Man - lively episode in which Paul Winfield is a Malcolm X type figure accused of murder and Ironside is tasked with proving his innocence. When he comes in the first time, being wheeled by Mark, his black valet, Winfield says to Ironside "next thing you know, you'll have us carrying you on our backs!" Mark has to endure a lot of abuse from them for being subservient to whitey.
BARETTA Ragtime Billy Peaches - Tony and Fred are appearing at a charity event (we see a lot of cute and familiar bird tricks) when someone finds the wife of a high-powered lawyer murdered in the back of a car. Complicating matters is that the lawyer is a close friend of Lt. Shiller--his boss. Tony poses as a hippie singer to get information from Meg Foster (usually think of her in sinister roles but not here). Soon suspicion falls on the lawyer. Before he adopts his hippie disguise, he is wearing a suit and rather deferential when he goes to interview the friend of his boss. Put a raincoat on his and you also have Columbo.

MANNIX - The End of the Rainbow - Man gets run over by car, body found with note addressed to Mannix. He investigates and learns of a heist which may be the reason for the murder. He visits a computer office that looks a lot like Intertect offices and visits another office with what looked like the painting Wickersham had in his office. Strange coincidence.
MCMILLAN & WIFE - "The Face of Murder" - Claude Akins is a boxing friend of Mac's who might know the face of a notorious jewel thief if he can live long enough to be of use. In the end, Sally's nose discovers the killer.

MANNIX - Another Final Exit - Down on his luck Bernie Farmer (Larry Storch) is married to Rose, who's the sister of a mobster. When the criminal is about to be paroled, Bernie decides to open a box the mobster had entrusted to him. But the box is empty. Mannix and Intertect boss Wickersham, against their better judgment, opt to help Bernie find what was in the box. Mannix sets himself up as a target, letting people think he has the box and its contents. The detective endures multiple beatings as he tries to solve the case.
CANNON - Hear No Evil - A paroled electronics expert (William Daniels) is threatened by three businessmen, and his wife, an ex-cop, calls Cannon.
Complicated story in which a very sneaky guy wants to kill his wife but needs to be sure a motive can;t be traced to him. There's a possible reference to Watergate when Cannon is told about a a hotel room being bugged and he says "it seems to be the new indoor sport."
PETROCELLI - Terror on Wheels - John Colicos is found next to a body and his daughter hires Tony to help him. The suspects lead to a motorcycle gang who terrorize Maggie as she is driving back to their never-finished house (its lack of completion they discuss at the start of the episode). The least likely suspect is waitress Annette O'Toole which means of course she will feature in Tony's courtroom hypothetical alternate murder scenario.

KOJAK - Conspiracy of Fear - A police informant is murdered and Kojak is going to get the killers. It is fascinating how much dramatic power they could squeeze into a 50 minute show without making you feel like it should have been longer.
COLUMBO - By Dawn's Early Light- The Patrick McGoohan episodes are particular stand outs. I only saw this once a long time ago and it may been the episode that made me watch more Columbos. When he asks a student for directions and she is skeptical about him being a cop--"are you sure that's a real badge?"

THE WILD WILD WEST - The Night of the Headless Woman --- I guess you can call this CottonFinger since the story involvwes a plot to destroy the US cotton supply with insects smuggled in. Despite the strange plot it is was alright. Mary Ann and Oscar Goldman guest star.
THE EQUALIZER - Episode 1 -- Never seen this show before from what I remember. It's not bad. Kind of a tv rated Death Wish.

IRONSIDE - The Professionals -- Michael Lerner is a cab driver who picks up fares to gt them rolled for their credit cards. Ironside has to break the ring so as not to harm San Francisco's tourism. Times sure have changed. It's an odd episode because Ironside isn't really doing much in it--another cop new to me is given the focus and it ends with him saying he would take them all to dinner..on credit card.

THE INVADERS - Moon Shot - David Vincent is sent to NASA by Peter Graves who is an astronaut/security guy (nice cover Mr Phelps) to investigate the deaths of a couple of astronauts who are to be on the first moon mission. Strother Martin appears briefly as a fisherman who gets lobotomized by the aliens. For once Vincent is actually pro-active with an alien and starts a fight with one disguised as a cop. Graves it turns out has suspicions about aliens himself and they believe one of the astronauts (Lief Erickson) is not who he appears to be. But they have to convince the big cheese Kent Smith that something is wrong.
MANNIX- The Mouse that Died--an odd episode which seemed to be a deadpan comedy at times but not sure if it was intentional. Mannix is investigating the disappearance of a student and visits a professor about it--then he starts to feel sick. Next thing he is seeing satanists and his own body in a coffin. Turns out he was poisoned and hasn't got much time left. They inject a mouse with his blood as some test (but really to justify the title of the story). Mannix seeks to find who poisoned him while he gets ashen and has various weird hallucinations. The most bizarre scene is when he goes to see Hugh Beaumont and learns the mouse died. He tells Ward that a good friend of his died and Ward offers his condolences. It's weird seeing HB in color btw. Mannix says he is sorry too because he (and the mouse) "had a thing together." Joe does eventually overcome the poison but then remembers the mouse so it ends with his friends standing over him and frowning. One comforting thing about 70s tv is that no matter how bad your own hair looks, you can always find someone in one of these shows with worse hair than yours.
CANNON- The Endangered Species - Very good episode again with Frank helping an old friend accused of murdering his son in a hunting accident. His friend (Andrew Duggan) assures him he isn't worried because he has the best lawyer in the country (Carl Betts who looks like he could be Darren McGavin's brother but seems to be channeling William Shatner in this one). Betts even wants Cannon to help him on the case. Only problem is, the audience knows from the opening that the killer of the son is Betts! He is a real piece of work in this. Cannon is to be killed by a hunting guide but he gets the drop on him and then literally squeezes him into surrender.

Columbo: The Greenhouse Jungle - Ray Milland is the killer but he does manage to nurse the plant of Columbo's wife back to health.
HARRY O - Material Witness -- Barbara Anderson sees a murder and is being kept under police protection but the captain (James Olsen) doesn't trust his department so he has Harry guard her for 2 hours. One of those cases where the characters have to do dumb things to move the plot forward.
Harry is able to trick a hired gun into shooting his partner and then hits the guy with a piece of firewood.
The logical thing would have been to grab the hitman's gun or hit him again to knock him out--but instead he just runs--allowing the hitman to get up and chase him. He also takes the witness back to her house--saying it is the one place they will never look for her--and then they show up looking for her.
Taking her to a motel or a church would probably have been safer but then there's no plot development if he plays it smart.

MANNIX S 3 Eagles Sometimes Can't Fly -- A friend of Peggy gets blamed for a double murder and Mannix has to try to help him and keep the police at bay. Robert Reed is the cop liaison for Mannix--pretty sure I saw him in a season 4 episode I jumped ahead to watch a while back so he must have done this before the Brady Bunch came along.
IRONSIDE S 5 The Gambling Game - Someone was saying how different the show became after season 4 and it does have a different tempo. The new character Fran Belding is quite an emotional policewoman compared to Eve Whitfield--it changes the way Ironside behaves. Van Williams appears as a crooked cop.
CANNON S 2 - Hard Rock Roller Coaster - John Vernon is high on drugs (truth serum) and ends up an amnesiac in the care of Fritz Weaver and his sheltered niece. Cannon is hired to find out who he is--and learns the mystery man is an international smuggler with a reputation for using people. They managed to milk the story for sentimentality. One funny scene--Cannon goes to a hotel to check on a lead and an aged room attendant watches him sit down on a sofa. "Springs sag," is Cannon's appraisal. The bellhop replies "gee, I wonder why?"

COOL MILLION - The Abduction of Bayard Barnes - A (Howard Hughes) tycoon goes missing and James Farentino, ex-CIA agent freelancer is hired to find him. This series only lasted 5 episodes. It's watchable but you can understand why it disappeared quickly.
BRONK - S 1 ep 3 The Gauntlet-- Bronk must protect a mob witness who happens to be the ex-girlfriend of the mobster he wants to get. It's more like a road movie actually that turns into a shoot out (using the same aqueduct as Terminator 2). This is the first time his cat appears since the pilot.

The Twilight Zone (2002-2003) It's Still a Good Life. A sequel to the classic original Twilight Zone ep It's a Good Life, with Bill Mumy and Cloris Leachman reprising their original roles as Anthony Freemont(not little any more) and his Mother. Anthony has a daughter now(played by Mumy's real life daughter Liliana Mumy) who is starting to develop powers of her own. The original TZ is my favorite series, but I never knew this sequel existed until 2 days ago. I enjoyed it quite a bit, so I'm putting the rest of this Forest Whitaker hosted series on my ever growing "to see" list. It's on Tubi.

MANNIX S 4 -The Lost Art of Dying - A prison riot leads Mannix to the death house there where he learns the inmates want him to investigate the case of a young convict who is scheduled to die. So he does. This has some funny uses of ghosts for telephone calls--when someone is talking on the phone-the other person appears as a ghost who floats in from one side.
Directed by Fernando Lamas!
CANNON - The Dead Samaritan -- For a change, the main villain is Barbara Babcock. She intends to use a young goon to rough up a lawyer with a heart condition by having a ditzy girlfriend of the goon claim the old barrister tried to rape her outside the courthouse in daytime. But when the act is set up, David Hedison appears and punches the lawyer--and he dies of a heart attack on the spot. Hedison is charged with murder--he and his wife go see Frank. But they don't tell him everything and he gets really mad--until they tell him the truth--the wife had been having an affair with the old lawyer! In fact, he was a playboy of sorts--strange-given his heart condition. Frank tracks down the ditzy girlfriend and calls himself Fred (and she keeps calling him that even when she knows his real name). He also gets whacked on the head with a beam of wood and dumped in the ocean and likely would have bought the farm had the ditzy girl not shown up and screamed in time to save him. A couple of fishermen have to get him out of the water.

IRONSIDE - A Bullet For Mark -- Ironside's valet is shot in the back and we get some stock footage recollections. In the end Mark is back on the job but wheelchair bound for a while so he promises the chief that he will race him.
BANACEK - The Three Million Dollar Piracy --- a wedding carriage disappears from a cargo container inside a hold of a ship with only a tiny hole in the side of it.
Infidelity is a theme of the story since various characters are involved in affairs and a sailor has two wives without them knowing each other.
'There's an old Polish proverb that says, "Even though a man anoint himself with fragrant oils, he can still wind up with a broken face."'

Halfway through the first season of the David Carradine starring ‘Kung-Fu’. Way better than I was expecting, and every episode thus far has been considerably good and outright engaging.

MANNIX - The Other Game In Town
Rich Little guest stars along with Martine Beswick in a story about a gambler who seems to fake his death to pay off his debts. (Mannix is asked by Leslie Parrish what he thinks of Beswick's looks and he says "she's a 'niner.'"). Mannix tells a guy to press the right button next to the phone to activate a speaker but the guy presses a left one instead.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE- The Town This was a fun episode.
Dispensing with the opening mission, Phelps stops in a small town on his way to meet Rollin at a cabin for some R &R and stumbles upon the plans of an enemy MI team led by Will Geer doing his sinister grandfatherly routine from SECONDS.
The entire town is plotting to murder a Soviet defector and Phelps is drugged into paralysis. Rollin is told he had a stroke and assumes it is true until Phelps gives him a Morse code signal by his blinking. They also make a rubber mask of Geer using supplies in a doctor's office. Not sure how possible it is but melting some plastic bags into a rubber to use for a mask was interesting.
In order to activate the IMF team, Rollin must use coded messages to Cinnamon like:
"Tell little Willy that Uncle Rollin will see him very soon."
SWAT Omega One - This show is pretty dumb. Student activists protest a chemical company about their stockpile of biological weapons but turn out to be after a million dollars. Sam Jaffe is held hostage and forced to activate a bomb built into the factor--it has a meter that says Normal/Warning/Danger/Explode.
The family characters appear to be gone--no sign of them for a few episodes now and hopefully the sassy sandwich merchant Hilda won't be coming back either.
Hondo and Deke steal a hero sandwich from Luca.

HAWAII FIVE-O - "Six Kilos" McGarrett goes undercover to bust a crime ring seeking to steal heroin from a yacht (Steve is an expert safecracker from working in Naval Intelligence it seems) . I guessed who the ringleader was pretty early.
COLUMBO - Lovely But Lethal --I had forgotten Vincent Price was the special guest star in this although he is not the killer or the victim. It's not a very memorable episode except although it ends with Vera Miles (who did not pre-plan to commit the initial murder) getting a witty final line. Premiered 50 years ago today.
