Finally watched The Last Duel last night. It's my new favorite of 2021 of the 20 movies I've seen from last year. That final duel is incredible. My #20, which I rate 7.7/10. Belfast and Oxygen are probably the next ones up for me. Seems you enjoyed those quite a bit.

I don't really get the Wrath of Man hype on this board. Felt like a generic revenge/heist flick you'd find at Redbox, complete with an old dad action star. Statham is doing his usual thing, the bad guys are copy and paste, the supporting guard characters are straight out of Hot Fuzz, Guy Ritchie's style is completely absent (which I guess can be considered a good thing for some, but any action thriller dude could have directed this).
I mean, I don't dislike it or anything. It's fine for what it is, but it also IS what it is.
I also watched No Man of God and The Card Counter based on your recs and enjoyed them.

I just think Wrath of Man is very cool, well-made and one of the most thrilling movies of 2021. Sometimes that is all that is needed. I am actually a bit surprised that so many other people like it as much as I do. I think it takes the usual stuff and makes it a lot more compelling than usual. So we seem to just have a very different reaction to the directing of the movie, because that is what makes it so good imo. It is a very good B-movie. I am glad you liked No Man of God. I remember you mentioning that you like The Card Counter.

I'm shocked Too unique to overlook. It leaves quite the impression. I figured you'd hate it just like Raw.

Too unique to overlook. It leaves quite the impression. I figured you'd hate it just like Raw. I didn't realize it was the same director, until you just brought up Raw. One is very interesting and emotionally compelling and the other is the opposite. My main issues with Raw is that it disgusted and depressed me, it feels smug about itself and I didn't care at all about any of the characters. One of the most boring and off-putting movies I have ever seen.

Added. Devastating true story about a series of events that lead an already violent, confused and depressed young man to commit mass murder. Directed intelligently by Justin Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders, Macbeth) and features very good performances from Caleb Landry Jones, Judy Davis, Anthony LaPaglia and Essie Davis.
