Why do I have the feeling this is gonna be another Force Awakens? Pushes the original cast to the side to make room for new characters to shine, kills the original cast, tells a almost scene by scene story that’s similar to the original, but makes a few differences.
I hope I’m wrong cause I actually want this to be good, but the teaser made it seem exactly like what I just said.

Was anyone ever expecting the original cast to be the main characters of the Star Wars sequels? If anything, the deceptive part of the marketing for TFA was that they led people to believe Finn would be the main character.

TFA’s biggest issue was that it felt like a remake of episode 4. |

Well, for what it’s worth, I’ve heard from test screenings that this movie gets pretty weird, so make of that what you will. That can be taken as a good or bad thing. Also the fact that they’re releasing this in December doesn’t give me much hope. Even if the movie isn’t good (which wouldn’t surprise me), if it’s at least memorable, that would be better than nothing. As for the release date, December has proven to be a very lucrative month for movies. If your concern is that it’s being released in the same month as the next Spider-Man movie, I imagine the hope is for it to serve as counterprogramming.
