Atheists defer to earthly powers like government and science, and Catholics have sense of community with their fellow man and the whole of humanity. American Protestants, by contrast, have no such allegiance to science, community, or ‘the greater good’. American Protestantism isn’t a religion, let alone a branch of Christianity. It’s the spiritual arm of Capitalism, and as such it is based on selfishness. If getting the vaccine inhibits in any way, no matter how insignificant and banal, then you’re perfectly justified in your shitty worldview to never get a vaccine and throw a tantrum about it.

Protestantism is decentralized and susceptible to extremism, even within the same sect, teachings can vary from church to church. Pretty much all the crazy Christian stuff, like snake worship, KKK, Moral Majority, abortion clinic bombings, etc., come from Protestants.

Interestingly enough Catholics are also more likely to accept things like global warming and evolution than Evangelicals. I'm not really sure what explains this discrepency, is it because they have better access to education?

I'm not really sure what explains this discrepency, is it because they have better access to education? It might be due to the centralized nature of the Catholic Church... Or due to the fact that pretty much that Catholic priests were the ones doing science in Europe during the Middle Ages.
