No, I don't think it's overrated. If I did, I wouldn't watch it and if I didn't watch it, I wouldn't know if it's overrated but then I'm a simple guy so I'm probably alone in that.

I've been struggling to finish it for the past 7 years. Partly because I'm watching it with someone else so it's a schedule thing, and partly because I just never got hooked. I could throw on TOS any time and have fun with it, but for TNG I have to be in a certain mood and even then, a little TNG goes a long way. There are some great individual episodes, but I can't binge it for long.
I think part of it is the characters. I like Picard, but he's a boring character by design. Data and Worf are good, but all of their episodes are pretty much the same thing every time, and the same goes for the rest of the characters whom...I kind of hate. Troi is useless, Riker is lame, Geordie is a creeper, Wesley is Wesley. My favorite character honestly isn't even a lead, and that's Barclay.

Barclay was a great character and IIRC has an episode in Voyager and appeared in DS9. TNG & Voyager was made for watching week to week as an alternative to the negativity of most dramas, and don't lend themselves to binge-watching. The long seasons also led to a lot of filler episodes. I started rewatching TNG and couldn't gain momentum, so just started skipping to the better episodes and still never finished. Voyager has the same problem, there are some legit fantastic episodes every season but there are so many weak filler episodes that it bogs down the show. I feel that if it could be reedited into a 10 episode per season series that it would be the next best series after TOS.
