Matt Groening - "The Simpsons" will always be that family cartoon for me, the one I watched the first episode to on TV with my family as a kid. I still watch the Treehouse of Horror episodes yearly. "Futurama" was a perfect futuristic follow-up as well. Trey Parker & Matt Stone - "South Park" in all of its vulgarity and real-life problem metaphors, does serve great points. What it's like to be a kid again with world issues told in every episode. I remember watching the movie in theaters just laughing at all the profanity in its premise.Mike Judge - "Beavis & Butt-Head" was mostly stupid, but it was fun stupid and had style (music). I remember the cartoons more than any of the music that played per episode. I sadly missed a lot of the "Daria" series which I so wanted to see.Seth McFarlane - It took me a while to get into "Family Guy" actually, when I finally did I loved it. I loved the fast, over-the-top humor it had going for it unlike all of these other cartoons. By the time "American Dad" came on, I was ready to love that cartoon equally. Gennedy Tartakovsky - I respect the cartoons series "Dexter's Laboratory" and "The Power Puff Girls" although I've never really watched either or. I respect the animation and the names. I've been hearing the name Power Puff Girls for a decade. Some other mentions/favorites I'll throw in because I have the time. Enjoy. (; Max Fleischer - "Betty Boop" was originally created after the silent actress Clara Gordon Bow, who was basically opposite of Charlie Chaplin of her prime acting career (the original "It" girl). Although most would believe the New York Betty is older than the Californian Mickey Mouse character, Mickey is exactly 20 months older. Although Betty could argue she was in color before Mickey was. Animator/creator of Mickey Mouse, Ub Iwerks, did create the first animation cartoon of all-time (Flip the Frog in "Fiddlesticks").Ub Iwerks & Walt Disney - "Mickey Mouse" is probably the name that succeeded most in the animation world. Interestingly enough, Iwerks was the soul cartoonist of Mickey (originally Oswald the Rabbit). Iwerks did more drawing of Mickey than Disney ever did, very similar to Jack "King" Kirby the artist and Stan "The Man" Lee were in the creation of Marvel comics (now owned by Disney). Some tension was created behind Mickey's softness, but the character still has so many firsts in his stories, including being the first animated animal to speak saying the words "hot dogs." Art Babbitt - "Goofy" is still a lovable Disney character to-date, due to Babbitt's direction with the character. Goofy, is dumb without knowing he's dumb, taking forever to decide to do something and then always chooses wrong. Babbitt's greatness in drawing began during his youth when his father became paralyzed on the job. Underrated Babbitt did the animation for the Witch in the "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" animated movie.Bill Justice - "Chip 'n Dale" are two of the most loveliest of animal duos. Justice, was not only an artist but an engineer. His best work in the Disney company was animating the character of Thumper from the film "Bambi." Justice would continue with is creativity and go on to help design character costumes in the Disneyland park, as well as programmed figures in such attractions as "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Haunted Mansion."Ted Avery - "Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig" come with over half a century of accolades. Avery for most of his career could only see out of one eye after a paperclip accidentally pierced his eyeball. It did not stop Avery and the four Warner Bros. from becoming the ultimate rival all these years to the Walt Disney corporation. From the 1930s through the 1960s, Looney Toons & Merrie Melodies created exactly 1,002 animated shorts.Chuck Jones - "Marvin the Martian, Pepé Le Pew, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner" are unsung heroes of all animated characters. Chuck Jones worked under Iwerks (above) and continued to move up in the business. He based Coyote on fellow animator, Ken Harris; and Le Pew on his 'ladies man' writer, Tedd Pierce. Jones later in his career would even direct the animation movie, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!"Charles M. Schultz - "Charlie Brown, Peanuts" is probably one of the most innocent pair of characters of all-time. Schultz, simply created the idea from childhood when one of his favorite things to do was to draw his dog, Spike (a pointer, not a beagle). The dog is an exact resemblance of Snoopy and was even tied with the Snoopy storyline, the character Snoopy having a brother named Spike.Jim Davis - "Garfield" was a cute stubborn character, You either loved him or agreed with him. Garfield was popular for his comic strips much like Charlie Brown. Davis found inspiration from Schultz (above) except wanted to do his own version after seeing the wide success in toys booming of animated animals, going with creating an egotistical cat for his lead character.Ted Turner, Barbara Pyle - "Captain Planet and the Planeteers" is a guilty pleasure cartoon of mine and one I truly miss amongst most cartoons. Turner, (founder of CNN) and Pyle (environmental activist) created the cartoon to help inspire young minds, which lead to the Planeteer Movement in young youths globally. Tom Cruise actually recorded the first Captain Planet voice-over but backed out of production.Bruce Timm - "Batman: The Animated Series" has represented one of the faces of the Batman worlds equal to the Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan movie franchises. Timm's early career varied in odd jobs on the productions of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," "She-Ra: Princess of Power," "The Real Ghostbusters" and "Tiny Toons." He finally got his big break by Warner Bros. when being asked to create the caped crusader. His most proud invented character to-date is Harley Quinn.Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird - "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is still nostalgic every time I hear the title. Both Eastman and Laired (Eastman previously worked on the "Heavy Metal" magazine) set out to do comic book characters with no idea the attention it would draw. They had very little control with the first beloved animated series, but have since been proud collaborators with the recent multiple TMNT animated series made.Peyo - "The Smurfs" were created like so many for comic strips, but would one day find their way to the states. Begian artist, Pierre "Peyo" Culliford, with bad health fought to bring his characters in the 1980's to the US, where they became an overnight success. Peyo passed away, leaving his son in charge of his animation company he created and his daughter on all merchandise.A.A. Milne & E.H. Shepard - "Winnie-the-Pooh" and company was written by English author and poet, Milne. Who would later be recommended to Illustrator artist and illustrator, Shepard to do the drawings of his Pooh characters. Milne was so delighted with the results that he wrote a poem for Shepard, "When I am gone, Let Shepard decorate my tomb, And put (if there is room) Two pictures on the stone: Piglet from page a hundred and eleven, And Pooh and Piglet walking... And Peter, thinking that they are my own, Will welcome me to Heaven."
