You don't think the certain knowledge that they'd have to go up against an infantile fanbase that will accuse them of "ruining muh childhood!!!" and harass them and everyone they interact with on social media has anything to do with directors steering clear?

Star Wars is such a dumpster fire now. I don’t know why these high profile directors want to go near it. It must be for the money.
As for Disney they’re clearly just going to throw everything at the wall to see what sticks. Anyone can do Star Wars now! No rules! No singular vision! Just hire whoever’s hot right now and let them do whatever.

I think most up and coming directors are better off steering clear of Star Wars.

Every franchise sees some of its fans acting like drama queens and shouting to the world every day for all to see and hear, at this point if you don't want to risk such a thing you might as well consider an alternative profession in life and do it far away from the mainstream. Also, to keep on pretending everything is all hunky dory with Disney Star Wars you're living under a rock, Kathleen Kennedy turned a multi-billion dollar earning franchise into a multi-million dollar one - The Rise of Skywalker, which you champion as making a billion dollars in profit, made a profit at a snail's pace, a big far cry from the opening to The Force Awakens in 2015, and it can be assumed that in better management the third installment of a trilogy would've built enough momentum to do just as well if not even better on release and throughout box office run - which it did not, because Kennedy dropped the ball repeatedly.

Yeah, and it'll be about Jedi and aliens meditating on wide open fields during the golden hour. And not much more will happen. LOL

I wouldn't respect ANYONE that allowed THAT to prevent them from making their childhood dream movie. But working for someone who might fire you as soon as praise you might do it.
