I actually thought Prometheus both sucked and blowed.

I've watched a LOT of britcoms on public television and find them dreadfully UNFUNNY. Those only one mildly interesting is "Are you Being Served," and even that wouldn't pass muster on American TV. "Keep up Appearances," which is supposedly "hilarious," is just painful to watch. Awful. The characters are cartoons, the laugh track is annoying and distracting, and it it JUST ISN'T FUNNY. Fortunately, it's not aimed at the likes of you. Your absence won't ever be noted, let alone lamented.

I've got to class up this conversation by including some of the more cerebral situation comedy that the BBC has also brought the world!

Bottom was on Dave last night. Did anyone watch it? Seen them all loads of times before. I've still got every episode on video from when they originally aired. "Culture" is my favourite episode.

VYVYAN!! Oh my God, TYO. I almost forgot all about them. "House Meeting!" Oh his forehead studs!
RIP Rik (my fave)
Nigel! Did you see him in Terry Pratchett's movie as the wizard in Hogfather? Typical Nigel.
Mike being Mike. There has to be one in every house.
Good times. Good times...

I liked the goofy comedy "My Hero" for a few seasons. I didn't see the last few seasons, however.

Some of the modern British comedies aren't that good. I grew up with great shows such as The Good Life, Rising Damp, Porridge, Open All Hours, Steptoe And Son, Dads Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, The Two Ronnies (not a sitcom but so funny), Allo Allo and Only Fools And Horses.

I see no mention of The League of Gentlemen yet which ran from 1999 - 2002. The humour is rather dark!
