I was looking at a thread on Reddit where fans were discussing the Riddler’s costume in The Batman and there was some debate as to whether it should be more comic accurate. The primary defense of it seemed to be that the comic outfit wouldn’t work in this version because it’s “too campy”.
What stuck me as funny though is that no one ever questions the “realism” of a man dressing like a bat. Riddler wearing a green jacket with question marks is too campy but a grown dude wearing a bat cowl is not? As dark and gritty as these movies go the basic premise is still inherently campy (or, as I prefer to say: surreal) whether filmmakers want it to be or not.
I’m not trying to degrade Batman or his outfit, but it just seems there’s been a bizarre double standard about how he can look and how his villains can look. I kind of wish they’d just embrace the surrealism of the source material again.
For the record though I like Riddler’s look. I do wish he had some bowler hat action though.

Your OP meant well but I find that you're overthinking it to be honest. It sounds like a discussion amongst comic book fans the Riddler doesn't wear dark like Batman so of course he'll stand out more.

A darker green jacket could work. Doesn’t have to be a ridiculous jumpsuit like in BF even though that is the greatest piece of clothing ever.
Riddler could actually be quite suave.
