Can you picture that? Ford is so iconic in the role at this point that it's difficult to imagine another actor in it. I feel like it would have been a totally different movie with Hoffman.

Can you picture that?
Ew.
I honestly can't.

Horrifying alternative casting stories continue I've never liked Dustin as an actor either.

They originally had planned for Deckard to wear the classic detective hat for the true noir feel, but Ford showed up to the meeting in the Indiana Jones hat (he was filming at the time) and they had to scrap it.

No I couldn’t see it. I mean I’m sure Hoffman would have done great in the role, but I couldn’t see anyone, BUT Harrison Ford as the character now.

Would have been an interesting choice, him coming off of Kramer vs. Kramer. I liked him in Marathon Man and I think he could pull off a action/film noir sci fi thriller but it’s really hard to see anyone else but Ford. One person I could almost see in the role during that period is Roy Scheider. He was getting up there in age I guess but the man was awesome in Seven Ups, Sorceror, Jaws, etc.

It's hard to picture anyone other than Ford, but Hoffman may have brought even more depth to the role. He's a great actor, even better than Ford.

Hoffman is not a terrible alterative, he's always done well in his roles, he would have brought his own thing to it.

To be fair, as a kid I always thought Harrison Ford in Blade Runner seemed strange between Indiana Jones & Star Wars.
